Identical Leagues... Chat Thread

A few reminders...
- Manager settings should eb the same
- Individual Settings should be the same
- Transactions should be made at the same game# in each league
- Team Lineups (including substitution logic) should be the same in both leagues

It'll be up to each manager to do this. I'll post any transactions that should be implemented for the upcoming week, but at the end of the day it'll still be your individual task to ensure the team is managed to all this.

In addition, this thread of course can be used for commentary throughout the season (seasons?). I'll also be posting statistics/standings comparisons at the end of each week...

Let the fun begin :)

Why are we duplicating injuries? They are part of the random effects that will differenciate the two leagues and give a basis for comparison.

We should only ensure that all lineups, rotation, manager and individual settings are identical and replicate all transactions. The rest should be up to the dice.

Somehow, I thought that duplicating injuries was part of the plan- guess I'm not as familiar with the plan was I might be!

I actually think it's better and makes more sense to NOT duplicate anyways... since lineups are done for 3 games at a time, any injuries in league 1 that end in the middle of a series can't be duplicated exactly, not to mention that there will be league 2 injuries that of course can't be duplicated whatsoever in league 1 (since that league is 1 week ahead).

So forget I said anything about the duplicate injuries

Thanks for doing all this work, Bill, from which the rest of us Strat slobs benefit greatly.

I was sweating there a bit, wondering how we were going to get HAL to injure our League 2 players to mirror our League 1 injuries. I was considering giving Pete Rose a shout so he could make book for us...

:D 8)

Just so I'm clear on this - if I make a lineup change in games 10-12 in league 1, I need to make the same changes for league # 2? Yikes, that should be interesting keeping all of that straight!

That is correct. Definitely would have been easier if we had started at the same time, but that's the way it goes.

Everyone... please make sure that your rosters, lineups, manager settings and individual player settings are the same in League #2 as they were (as best as possible) for the opening night in League #1 :)

Here's the first annoying wrinkle in the plan to duplicate leagues

The following transactions were made AFTER the 10PM deadline on opening night in Identical League #1 but before midnight- thus the players DROPPED actually were on the opening night rosters and in most cases played in the opening series.

Thus, to duplicate League 1, the "dropped players" below would need to be ON THE ROSTER before 10PM ET, then sometime between 10PM and Midnight ET each of the adds/drops would need to be processed as described below.

Example... Koufax was dropped after the 10PM roster in league 1, and thus actually started a game for Petrosian's Still the Same team... so Petrosian, you would need to make sure Koufax is on your League #2 roster prior to 10PM (and in the rotation), then you'd want to drop him and pick up Short before Midnight, which is precisely what you did in League #1. Same with Torsky, Delancey, Randolph and Lerch- they all should be ON before 10PM and OFF before midnight

Similarly, OT, you would need to have Lasher and Maxwell ON YOUR ROSTER in this league BEFORE 10PM and then drop them between 10PM and Midnight ET (picking up Riddle and Freeman), just as was done on opening night in League #1.

06/18 Still the Same 12 added Ruthven, Dick
06/18 Still the Same 12 dropped Lerch, Randy
06/18 Still the Same 12 added Evers, Johnny
06/18 Still the Same 12 dropped Randolph, Willie
06/18 Still the Same 12 added Dickey, Bill
06/18 Still the Same 12 dropped Delancey, Bill
06/18 Still the Same 12 added Hargrove, Mike
06/18 Still the Same 12 dropped Trosky Sr., Hal
06/18 Still the Same 12 added Short, Chris
06/18 Still the Same 12 dropped Koufax, Sandy
06/18 Pinetar RefugeesID1 added Riddle, Elmer
06/18 Pinetar RefugeesID1 dropped Maxwell, Bert
06/18 Pinetar RefugeesID1 added Freeman, Hersh
06/18 Pinetar RefugeesID1 dropped Lasher, Fred

My League #1 team is 7-14, I hope League #2 isn't THAT identical.

In the rush to launch 7 new teams last Monday night, I somehow had reversed my closer settings- had Lefferts vs. R's and Henke vs. L's

If that weren't painful enough, I almost had to close my eyes to not see my hands make the IDENTICAL wrong settings in League #2... but I did make the settings the same- so be forewarned that my League #2 closers will STINK for at least 21 games... if not longer
