Deadballs

Postby Sgt Jim » Thu Nov 13, 2008 3:33 pm

Thanks to all that joined. I believe this is about as close as we will ever get to actually recreating an era in baseball. Team players from the era with all 1911 stadiums. When we are done with the draft there will only be about 65 unused players.

Just a reminder of the original rules……….

League Name – Deadballs
80M
NO DH
5/10/20
frenzy (because it won’t really matter)
NO trades
NO free agent pool (except players that are your exclusive property)
MUST use the stadium from your deadball team
Helpful if you could incorporate your team into the Team Name

- There are 16 deadball era teams and with only a few minor adjustments I believe this can become quite competitive.
- After 12 teams are chosen (first come, first serve), the 12 teams will be sequenced from lowest team salary to highest team salary. This will also set division alignment.
- There will then be a 4 round draft (lowest to highest) of players from the remaining 4 teams that were not chosen. To help the lower salaried teams the draft will be a little different.
- Round 1 will be just the 4 lowest salaried teams (lowest to highest)
- Round 2 will be just the 8 lowest salaried teams (lowest to highest)
- Rounds 3 and 4 will be all 12 teams (lowest to highest, both rounds)
(For example, the manager with the lowest salaried team after 12 are chosen, will have picks 1, 5, 13 and 25 and the manager with the highest salaried team will only have picks 24 and 36)
- This will help the lower salaried teams and make all the rosters strato legal.
- Draft will take place on the ILC boards.
- The players from your chosen team and the 2, 3 or 4 you draft become your exclusive property.
- The remaining players that were not drafted off the 4 remaining teams can no longer be used.
- There will be NO trading, but you can dip into your excess players during the season (with the obvious 5/10/20 penalty).
- Divisions will also be set by team salary (prior to the 4 round draft). Lowest 4 team salaries to the East, next 4 to the Central and highest 4 to the West.

When I click on Hugh Duffy's card it reads 1901 Milwaukee Brewers. I suppose this is a misprint and he is really a Cardinal for me to use?

The 1901 Milwaukee Brewers became the St Louis Browns, who became the Baltimore Orioles. I don't understand all the history, but Duffy and Garvin are listed with the St Louis Cardinals deadball team. We are going stricly by the teams Strato created.

So, Yes, they are both yours.

I just looked at my team and reneged on my pick, hope that didn't screw anyone up. There is no hope for this team, but I should have known.
