Here we go, this is the place to talk about draft results!

I feel great that after 3 rounds I have my middle defense set:
Han-Ram (2e12), Hill (1e8), and Kemp (1e(-5)4) (all #'s based on memory)

Kemp's actually a 1(-3)e2 in CF. I thought about him, but only briefly. As a 5L who may or may not see a lot of lefties, I felt like he was not worth that high of an investment. Maybe I'll be wrong on that.

It's really tough being on the ends because you want to take the best players available, but you also have to look down the road and see what will be available in 20 or so picks and forecast.

I think after these first 3 or 4 rounds, that's when the decisions start to be much tougher, especially as fewer and fewer teams are available to you to select from.

What are we doing about divisions?

1-4-7-10 in the East, etc.? If so, it looks like this:

I'm not a fan of the 5L either, but there's a huge dropoff b/n Kemp and the remaining CF's. One other thing I considered is how many decent Dodgers there are to choose...it's a deep roster.

I like the 1-4-7-10 division format for live drafts.

Any surprises for anyone? I'm a little surprised so many pitchers have gone this early.

Hands down, the biggest surprise was that Adrian Gonzalez was the 19th pick at nearly $11M, and $7M Joey Votto, while a very good player for me in a pre-card draft league I'm in with a few of you, was taken before him.

I was also a bit surprised about the number of pitchers taken. Jason Bartlett seemed to fall pretty far down, too.

I agree on the surprise of the pitching run so early. I passed on AGon twice only because I wanted to get a strong middle infield - Jeter and Utley. I figure that there are many more 1B than quality SS and 2B - but it was tough to pass on him, that's why my initial picks were a bit slow. I also figured Utley is at least close to AGon offensively.

I don't think Utley's even close to Gonzalez's stick.

On a side note, the times on DiamondDope being Central time threw me a bit. If the time limit expires on a pick, what will occur with the new site - will it tell the next person to pick and the other person comes back when available? If that occurs, do we just move forward I guess? I would also assume the clock resets for the current pick and no clock on the 'expired' pick is needed.
