$110 M cap/DH/5-10-20 drop/waivers

Roster Rules: at all times your roster must be composed of players from (and carded to) your selected team grouping plus your allotted free agent(s) - see free agent rules below

Free Agent Selection - During the auto draft you are restricted to players in your assigned card grouping. You may ONLY select players who have a card version in your grouping (for example, if you have the Old Cardinals (STL db and STL pre) you cannot put Stan Musial- post 1948 card on your Auto Draft list since this version of Musial is categorized with the STL post group. You can select the Musial card that is in the STL - pre grouping.

AFTER the auto draft runs, every team can select at least one free agent during the waivers period. Eligible free agents fall into 1 of the
following 3 categories:

1.- Any Negro League Player
2.- Any player that played for your selected franchise (at least 1 mlb IP or AB). For example, if the Dodgers franchise does not auto draft Mike Piazza, the Big Apple team (NYG pre, NYM exp) can select him from the free agent pool because Piazza played for the Mets.
3. - A player you have rights to, but upgrade the card version. For example, The old Yankees (NYY db,pre) draft the 1941 Phil Rizzuto - from the NYY pre group in the autodraft. They can select the Phil Rizzuto 1950 card from the NYY post group which is assigned to the New Yankees (NYY post, exp) group. This card upgrade would count as a free agent allocation.

Every team gets 1 free agent allocation. Some teams are granted additional free agent allocations (indicated below) if they are unable to obtain/or choose not to draft certain impact players. For example, if the Wash/Twins franchise does not have Carew and Goslin on their roster after the auto draft, the Wash/Twins would have 3 free agent allocations to use for their roster. The key players that represent additional free agent allocations are listed below.

You can add/drop free agents as much as you want as long as you never exceed the number of free agent you are allowed to have and your free agents meet the criteria above.

Free agents can span time eras. For example, if available the old Cards, can select Bruce Sutter (who pitched for the Cardinals) as their free agent if Sutter is available in the free agent pool after the autodraft runs.

Bundled team goupings like the Eastern Expansion can select a player who played for the Expos, Blue Jays, Brewers or Marlins for their free agent allocation.

Before the season starts, each team will declare their free agent selections on the league message boards

Divisions are pre-determined see below.

Home Ball Park - select a ball park that is associated with your selected team/and time era

As BD Ward correctly pointed out, if you want Larry Walker, you have to draft the Expos version of him on your auto draft card. If you win him, you can use the Rockies version of him, but it will cost you a FA allocation.

You are correct there is a chance a player you have rights to could end up on someone else's roster because HAL put them in as a substitute for a lost auto draft selection. I have done leagues like this before. Most SOM managers adhere to good sportsmanship and drop the high $$ players they do not have access to before waivers, and the rest during waivers. I will monitor, and if anyone has any complaints we will monitor on the league message board. To minimize risk, you should auto draft everyone you want. There are not many impact players that would only be eligible for a single franchise so you would be smart to protect your top players in the auto draft.

Answer to PJK

PJK asked about allowing auto draft lists to go over the $110 cap, as long as you get to $110 before the season starts..

Not every team grouping in this league can generate much more than $110mil on an auto draft list that is restricted only to players in your team grouping... Please do not go over $110 cap on the auto draft lists, this will help maintain the competitive balance and stop the "hoarding" of top players..

Also PJK, you mentioned Josh Gibson and O. Charleston.. these players should not appear on anyone's auto draft lists, they are only available during the free agent period.. There are no catchers expensive enough for HAL to use Josh Gibson as a replacement for.. O. Charleston could only show up as a replacement for a missed auto draft attempt at the 13.41 mil Speaker.. if Boston get's O. Charelston, please drop before waivers.. thanks

you misunderstood me. i am talking about the free agent phase, which comes after the initial autodraft. i assume we will be using the waiver draft that comes after. if not, if we all skip the waiver draft and go to the open free agent phase then obviously there would be no reason to go over $110 million at any time

Note to managers entering their teams..

Postby 2cityfan » Fri Jan 14, 2011 11:56 am

I was just reminded that in $140 mil leagues, there is a minimum of $105.. so you will need to have at least $105 to enter your team, and you need to stay under $110..

thanks

You can do as many add/drops of players in your assigned grouping as you want... so switching Molitor to Wallach is fine
