KING OF THE ERA's - FRENZY DISCUSSION

PLEASE READ - HOW TO HANDLE THE FRENZY??? 02 Jun 2006 14:31

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm concerned that the idea for a Frenzy is a poor one.

Since we have different ERA's when we do an autodraft HAL will mix up all our cards with players from ERA's other than the one any specific manager is in.

ANY IDEA's?????

One might be to autodraft with each manager taking a franchise from their ERA and then during the frenzy replace them with players from the proper ERA.

We could draft Franchises to fill our rosters.

We could continue drafting players until our rosters are completed and void a Frenzy or have a Frenzy with all players not on rosters being eligible though each manager still could only pick up a player from their ERA.

I'm going to set up a Chat Thread for this subject

"As for the frenzy I am not at all sure I see the problem- we put our 10 or whatever it is drafted players at the top of the card instead of the bottom as would be usual, autodraft the rest, try and post the drafted players and during the frenzy rapidly release all non-era players ASAP.
If you put the autodraft at top then I see your problem as you will end up with a bunch of players from other eras that were 'live drafted' but it should work okay the other way.
I am fairly dense so I could be missing a major point here."

Sounds logical to me. :)

I wouldn't mind continuing to draft until 25+stadium are chosen. Otherwise it seems unavoidable that some non-era players will end up on rosters.

I've read the message posted by Steve Ames as well as by Unclerowser.

I think Unclerowser is in tune where I'm coming from.

Looking at the message from Steve he indicates that by placing the 12 DRAFT PICKS at the top there isn't going to be an issue with HAL replacing picks with players from the wrong ERA once a managers draft pick is taken.

I'm pretty positive that regardless of where we place our initial picks HAL will always replace taken draft picks with the next highest player at the requested position and the ERA is not a factor to HAL.

Doing the whole thing as a LIVE draft is fine, as long as everyone is willing to wait it out, if necessary. Snags occur, and delays happen (look at us in ERA #1), as life intrudes on our game. We might cruise along and get 26 rounds done in another 5-7 days. Or, it might take us 2-3 more weeks. Longest LD I was ever involved with took almost 5 weeks! Don't think that will happen here, but you never know. I think, if you decide to do the whole thing as a LD, you'll have to utilize a clock, at least during the weekdays. Whatever you all decide is fine with me. :)

Best way is 25+ stadium

We could increase the draft to 16 (incl stad) less places for HAL to screw up

If we don't do a complete draft, our live drafted picks need to go at teh bottom and we need to clean up mistakes in the frenzy.

The only way to avoid ANY non-era player on the draft is to do a complete 25 player + stadium live draft. What I was suggesting would avoid getting DRAFTED players from other era's on your team if you put your drafted players at top. HAL only looks for substitutes when the player is already not available so in the autodraft you WILL probably get non-era players that have to be replaced but if eeveryone has put their drafted players at top then you should see people end up with drafted players from another era.
Having said that it is fine with me to do a 25 player live draft which would indeed, avoid thw whole thing.

I think this is the way to go understanding that this won't go off for another week. Thats probably going to happen anyway[/quote]

If we do a 25+ stadium draft, we should still make the stadium pick mandatory by the 13th round as some have already picked their venue of choice. I'm still up for the complete draft as otherwise all I can envision is chaos & acrimony.

I've read the comments so far and I'm sure we cannot go ahead with an autodraft.

Based on the comments lets make it a 25+ stadium draft but we need to finish this draft of 13 rds including the stadium. I suggest using Wednesday Night as our completion deadline.

I will offer 1 option considering that there may be managers who cannot handle a full draft and they didn't sign up for one.

Within each ERA we draft Franchises from the respective ERA's and build our roster using players from those Franchises.

I need some help in deciding how to handle the voting.
