Glad I got one of the top three. After the first 3 picks the talent pool goes to hell.

The rest of us will have to compensate with our managerial acumen

from [i:228c00b7ff]Miracle[/i:228c00b7ff]
Craig Patrick: "But Herb, you don't have any of the best players"
Herb Brooks (Kirk Russell): "Not lookin fer da best players Craig, lookin fer da right ones"

By the way I often borrow from Herb Brooks pep talk when I'm playing Petrosian's teams - "Dere time is done! Dis is our time!"

I was counting on that.

BTW when we draft tonight, dj should listen to Still the Same by Bob Seger, for a little reality check.

I was just reviewing the live drafts I have done so far with ATG III on Major Deegan's site.

The best draft I've seen so far was when MrBBW drafted Frank Baker 2nd overall in an 80M draft, and Rube followed by picking Sandberg 3rd. Hopefully this draft will follow similar lines with the first two picks.

But to be fair this was the first live draft with the ATG III cards. Not surprisingly BBW won only 69 games. Frank Baker. But I shouldn't poke too much fun. I drafted Josh Devore in the fifth round. Later I saw the light and played Billy Williams after dropping Devore. Only won 83 games but made it to the finals. What is really bizarre is that of the 15 players I drafted live, only Mantle, Aaron, Podbielan and Shantz actually ended up playing for me. Rube, with Sandberg as first pick actually had the best record in the league with 94 wins. Go figure.

My last MajorDeegan site live draft was 200M... somehow I got Willie Mays drafting in the #8 spot... I added Ted Williams and Maris and have quite an offense going... currently 53-43 in Baker Bowl, but am in a 3rd place in a division where all all over .500... ouch.

In my last two Fast Six drafts, Simon31's other version of this format, I ended up going with Wrigley '59 squads... the first I drafted #1, and had Mays (83 HR's 202 RBI's) and FRob, Foxx, Alou, Harrah, Ripken and they won 99 games and lost in the finals to deepdrive in 6 games. The second team I believe I drafted #11 or #12, and had Yount, Foxx, JClark and JoeD, but they were outclassed to a 79-83 record.

Tonight I draft 12th... and no matter WHAT I won't be playing Wrigley'59 :)

Question: Are divisions set by the draft order or is it a free for all?
Thanks,

It's a free for all! No set divisions. Enter your team as soon as your ready. Once entered though, you can NOT pull your team back out to get in another division. Mark, thanks for setting the draft thread up. Guys, look for the thread started by Modmark that says "Fast Draft." Thats the one we'll be using.
