Position Draft League - CHAT

Another possibility is no exchanging cards or positions. You draft Frisch's 21 card he can only play 3rd and you cannot trade it in for a differant Frisch card.... just a thought. A player must play the position he was drafted in.

If I draft a player in the live portion of the draft. He has to remain on my roster but does he have to play?

I considered both situations before finalizing the rules. The added flexibility of being able to swap cards (for players with multiple cards) and use a player at any position would was attractive and would perhaps make the game more interesting and offset perceived disadvantages of any particular draft slot - a situation which came up in the last league. Similar reasoning in abandoning the 140 mil cap for this version.

So, those rules were decided intentionally, and we really didn't know how things would work out until we were underway. I'm open to modifications if there is consensus but there was some consideration given to the potential consequences. :)

No, he doesn't have to play every day, and he doesn't have to remain on your roster. You can trade him, but he has to be on the other team's roster for the entire season.

From the rules post at the top.

Additional league rules:
1. Any live-drafted player must remain on a team roster for the entire season.
2. Following waivers, cards for the same player may be exchanged.
3. Players may play at any eligible position for the card used.

The draft has been suspended for the moment until we resolve the DH situation and the RP-only situation below.

I'm considering the effect of "Any P" falling before "RP-only" in the randomized order. Though this was done in prior leagues, looks like this has the potential to water down the pool for the manager with the first pick in the RP-only position, which would be less fair to him since that is his only #1 pick opportunity.

Four options as I see them:

1. Make the [u:e02e4ee6bf]'Any P'[/u:e02e4ee6bf] category into: [b:e02e4ee6bf][i:e02e4ee6bf]Any SP or SP/RP[/i:e02e4ee6bf][/b:e02e4ee6bf].

2. Make the [u:e02e4ee6bf]'Any P'[/u:e02e4ee6bf] category into: [b:e02e4ee6bf][i:e02e4ee6bf]Any SP/RP[/i:e02e4ee6bf][/b:e02e4ee6bf].

3. Make the [u:e02e4ee6bf]'SP-only'[/u:e02e4ee6bf] category into [b:e02e4ee6bf][i:e02e4ee6bf]LHSP[/i:e02e4ee6bf][/b:e02e4ee6bf], and the [u:e02e4ee6bf]'Any P'[/u:e02e4ee6bf] into [b:e02e4ee6bf][i:e02e4ee6bf]RHSP[/i:e02e4ee6bf][/b:e02e4ee6bf], or vice versa.

4. Do nothing.

Please check in with comment.
Thanks.

Eric, how about SP-only for one and SP/RP for the other?

For example, Greg Maddux S8* would be SP-only and Addie Joss S9*/R5 would be SP/RP.

On the DH issue, there are probably several things that could be done, but a combination of two might work best.

1. Players selected for DH must be a 3 or 4 at their primary position. Perhaps better said (considering players with multiple cards), [i:16e0e5dc87]any player selected at DH cannot be a 1 or a 2 at the primary position on any card[/i:16e0e5dc87].

If this were the case, then the player pool available to the manager with the first pick in the DH round would look like this (higher priced players only):

Foxx
Williams
Beckwith
Kiner
Cash
H. Wilson
Greenberg
Mize
D. Allen
Carew
Stargell
Suttles
J. Wilson
OH Johnson
Wheat
Killebrew
Klein
McCovey

2. Any player selected in the DH round must be played at the DH position during league play.

Please comment.
Thanks.
