I picked up Castro. From Cincinnati. A NL Player.

I tried to drop him. Someone approve, please.

Kids, don't do like I did !

...I took a risk letting you know about Castro, but I must say I expected to snag Olmedo with my next pick. (gotta have someone who can play SS in the field!)

Now, Calbatross....

I caught Castro same time you did, as I remembered that I used him on my lame NL-only team. If you look at our timecodes, you'll see we posted virtually (so to speak) identically. Olmedo was just the next best fielding SS available, so when I PH for Pena (which will be often), I'll have another guy to turn double plays.

I can see myself getting a lot of use out of Casey Blake and his 600+ PA spread across all three of his positions -- 3B, LF and 1B -- especially now that there's nobody at all left as a viable CF backup for Swisher (who, thank God, also has 600+ PA), who can no longer realistically be an option for any extended period at 1B.

I just can't believe...

...how quickly the quality of players turned sour. I guess I shoulda kinda figured it out...2 less teams in the AL + you need one more bat in the lineup... Wow.

Every shortstop I looked at, I was like...well, he'll last til the next round...

Once I saw you were so far down in cash that you were gonna be buying cheap the rest of the way, I shoulda snapped up Olmedo. No sweat tho. Will make do. :D

Still watching you tho...

Still Sifting Through Players

Postby moneymaze » Fri Sep 05, 2008 3:34 pm

While I'm not [i:3c149d33c6]thrilled[/i:3c149d33c6] with my team, I'm okay with them (mostly because I've set up platoons at second and third). Even the Big Red Machine had Tommy Helms at second base (for the first few years), who didn't create any runs at all.

I still need to fill a couple of roles -- I need a backup catcher and a couple of bats off the bench (Owens fills the roles of pinch-runner, defensive replacement for Buck, and emergency center fielder when Buck gets hurt), plus a few arms in the pen. But there's still a few near-diamonds out there among the zircons.

Getting Lugo for SS off the bench is better than most of the guys left for SS, his bat sucks but a 3e21 is better than a 4e600. Plus he can steal bases which I like. SGT D
