EARLIER YOU ASKED FOR SUGGESTIONS.

I BELIEVE THAT IN MY INITIAL THREAD I SUGGESTED THAT MANAGERS ENJOY RESEARCHING FRANCHISE HISTORY BECAUSE OVER HALF OF THE MANAGERS ALREADY IN DO AND ARE EXPERIENCED.

THE SOURCES ONE CAN USE IS BASEBALLREFERENCE.COMWHICH IS BASICALLY THE BASEBALL ENCYCLOPEDIA. I USE THAT BUT I PURCHASED A BOOK TITLED " THE TEAM BY TEAM ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL " WHICH TO ME IS A SIMPLE WAY OF LOOKING AT FRANCHISE HISTORY. IT BASICALLY HAS THE SAME DATA AS BASEBALLREFERENCE.COM BUT THE SECTION OF IMPORTANT PLAYERS IS USEFUL AND HAS PICTURES OF THE PLAYERS.

See if this works for you Steve, this is what I use through Google and can be changed for any team. once you find the players you want then go to Baseball-reference.com and you can see if the qualify for your team. Bob

Bob I thought you could not take a player off an A team. Santiago is carded to the Pirates I think.

Santiago was still with the Padres in 1991...he played with the Giants eventually.

Rules, rules - see if this helps

Postby centerfielder17 » Mon Jan 05, 2009 7:53 pm

Stephen-

You can draft any player that fits the following criteria:

1. Had a minimum of 400 PA (hitter), 100 IP (starter) or 50 IP (reliever) in any [i:e0e6e6cfeb]one [/i:e0e6e6cfeb]season [b:e0e6e6cfeb]OR [/b:e0e6e6cfeb]played at least 3 seasons for the Cubs.

[b:e0e6e6cfeb]AND[/b:e0e6e6cfeb]

2. Is [b:e0e6e6cfeb]NOT [/b:e0e6e6cfeb]carded to any of the other 11 teams selected. That's why Alexander and Klein are not available, they are carded to the Phillies.

Once the draft is concluded and our teams are selected through the TSN-SOM draft engine, [b:e0e6e6cfeb]then [/b:e0e6e6cfeb]restriction #2 is lifted and you can go after anyone that is eligible under #1.

OK, I'll take Kiner. Sorta thought Phil was the A's before '29 but guess I was wrong.
