I use www.mlb.com also to see what a player did in the majors in the past.

Personally I have no problem putting some time between the regular and prospect draft. I could use the time to do a little research and analyze the hodge-podge that is my roster! :D

I agree that it would be nice to have a window of time between this draft and the prospect draft. I would like a copy of everyone's roster to see about potential trades in this window of time also.

Timing

Postby tcochran » Wed Nov 04, 2009 2:33 pm

1. Initial draft: We're in round 29 right now and some managers are still not using proxies -- so it's likely that a few more days will be needed to complete this step.

2. Stadium draft: For round 41, we'll use this discussion thread for a stadium draft; likely to take a day or two.

3. Rosters: Kaviksdad has done a marvelous job of preparing rosters in 2 other keeper leagues I'm in, so I'm hoping he'll do the same for this one. Please?!?

After I have the rosters, I will email them to anyone for whom I have an address. At the moment, I'm still missing:
......dreamingtree#41
......PracticalDoc
......Hk Mossy

(By the way, your email address will be included in the roster unless you specifically tell me NOT to do so)

4. Prospect draft: So what all that means, I guess, is that it is not likely to be a hardship at all, to delay the prospect draft until after sknsfan gets back home from Toronto!

(Hey, sknsfan, I hear that "Phantom of the Opera" is on stage in Toronto again now -- saw it there twice -- don't miss it, if you get the chance!)

I have a problem with changing the rules on how we define a prospect only because I have made decisions on draft picks based on the fact that I have the 1st pick in the prospect draft. With that in mind, I play this game for fun and do not want to make this a bigger issue than it should be.

HK, I interpret your comment to mean a NO CARD vote, so the current list would be:

1. KNIGHT
2. tcochran - NO CARD
3. Mike Lopp - NO MLB
4. Lumbercompanysouth NO CARD
5. joekendall - NO MLB
6. TomPierce NOCARD
7. dreamingtree#41
8. PracticalDoc
9. kaviksdad - NO MLB
10. Sknsfan - NO CARD
11. JMP1 - NO CARD
12. Hk Mossy - NO CARD

With that, it will be impossible to get a super-majority of 8 needed to change the rule.

Therefore, a prospect is defined as any player who does not have a card in the current set.

Prospect draft rules will remain as originally published:

PROSPECT DRAFT
1) After the initial draft and after each year's annual free agent draft, there will be a four round prospect draft.
2) Each team will be able to select 4 prospects, defined as any player who: a) DID NOT RECEIVE A CARD for the current season; b) does not appear on TSN's website; and c) is the property of an MLB team. In other words, no, those who have not yet signed as of the start of that year's draft are not eligible for the prospect draft.
3) The initial prospect draft is serpentine. Draft order for the initial prospect draft will be the reverse of the draft order for the initial free agent draft. All subsequent prospect drafts are non-serpentine, with draft order based on the final win/loss records of the previous season: Reverse order, worst-record first, NFL style.
4) Owners lose rights to all prospects they release. Released prospects are eligible to be drafted as either a) free agents if they are issued SOM cards or b) prospects again, if they are not issued SOM cards for the current season.
5) There is no clock for round 1 of each prospect draft. All subsequent rounds will operate with a 2-hour clock, as in the initial draft.
6) Individual owners are responsible for their own prospect research.

Prospect

Postby PracticalDoc » Wed Nov 04, 2009 7:23 pm

What do you mean by "does not appear on TSN's website." You mean the strato part right, not the whole website. This seems like common sense but the wording is giving me angina.

So for example, Carpenter is a Prospect but Stephen Strasburg is not?
