no wrz is fine...you can only own ONE qualifying catcher with a salary over 3m dollars., listed earlier in the thread. campanella, howard, roseboro, hendricks etc, as well as the added in cheap latino catchers are part of a pool just over 2 per team, including 14 negro leaguers.
if you own a negro leaguer that has a catcher rating, he MUST be in your lineup as your starting catcher, including beckwith and his 5+2. the one or two teams that end up with two negro league catchers, can start either one, but beckwith can only play catcher, except in the case of an injury.

no problem paul, you DO have two hours...and this draft requires an inordinate amount of study and strategizing.
at least 80% of the available player and pitcher pool will make someone's roster.

I have to renig on the beckwith thing, although I would live with him if there were no other options. I would take him if he were guarenteed to me, but that's obviously unfair, and i can't let other catchers go by not knowing if someone will draft him or not. my thought was I wouldn't be the only one willing to trade his bat for his brutal 'd'. if he goes undrafted, I guess he comes down with a debilitating illness and misses hanging with all his buddies. if someone has a better solution, please chime in, but I still think someone will pull the trigger. you can always back him up with a tony pena or someone more solid defensively to remove late.

[b:b7055afceb]Bad Pick[/b:b7055afceb]

Meat.... the rules say Latin pitchers under $5M... yet you drafted Mariano Rivera (5.59)? He isn't AA.

If he is eligible I certainly wouldn't have passed on him to take Arroyo in the same round. I doubt the person who took BOTH Lee Smith and W Hernandez would have passed on him also. Either he needs to be dropped, or you can send him my way.

Yeah, in addition to Rivera, isn't Carew considered a Latin American, and not an AA?

Carew was born in Gatun, Canal Zone according to baseball-reference. I always remember him being referred to as Panamanian.

Also, Novie's got it right - I would have SURELY regarded Mariano as a better 2nd round pick than big Lee.

Ditto...

...to all of the above. When I finally noticed the under 5m stipulation, I had to delete Pedro, Marichal, Higuera, Santana, and Rivera from my proxies.

Also a couple of the low-end pitchers Meat has listed are ineligible. Xavier Rescigno was born in NYC and Steve Ontiveros (actually, both Steve Ontiveros's) was born in California. Not that either of those places aren't foreign countries to those of us in flyover country...
