this was from a recent ATG board post (I pasted it here, because I believe this strategy worked in our last auction, but may not now and I wanted everyone to be aware so they could judge for themselves)

Early after ATG5 was released, I participated in a $200M franchise league. Each manager had exclusive access to all players from that franchise, including multiple cards for several players. With $200M in salary cap, all of the managers had tons of extra money to waste with roster moves during the season.
A friend had a star get injured and thought, "No problem, I'll just swap him out for another year of the same player." HAL allowed the move, of course, extracting a bit of salary cap in the process. The new year for the player did not show an injury on his card BUT HAL would not allow him to be played until the previous injury period had expired.
We thought that was pretty good -- it wouldn't be fair to avoid the impact of an injury by changing a player's year. Bernie was one step ahead of us.
Nobody ever tried the same maneuver with a pitcher to avoid the impact of fatigue. I suspect that Bernie has anticipated that possibility and prohibited it, as well.
