Rob, the LongHaulers have entered the B league.
I don't think I've ever shared my bio on the forums before, but I enjoyed reading about each of you so much I thought I'd pass along my personal stats as well.
I've been playing Strat (the board game) since 1969 and it's because of SOM that I'm a devoted Detroit Tigers fan. I'm the son of a Navy man, and we were living in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba when I received my first set of SOM cards, the 1968 set. I could only afford eight teams, but of course one of those teams was the Tigers. Since it was my game I got to pick the Tigers in every league against the other neighborhood kids. Won the first eight games I played and have been hooked ever since. I've played the TSN 200x game since it's inception, but the most teams I've ever played in a season is 13 (2003 season, and I still have a credit for this season!). Used to write articles about the TSN and SOM computer game for somworld.com which are probably still in their archive somewhere, and even developed a set of Negro League cards for personal use.
On the personal front, I am also a Navy man like my father. I was 39 years old before I lived in one place longer than 3 years, although if pressed I generally say I'm from Virginia Beach, VA since my Mom and two brothers have lived there for many years now. I turned 50 last month, and have spent 6 of the last 11 years in San Diego, where we live now. I'm married with no children (unless you count a house full of cats and one very accomodating canine). My wife did play one season of TSN and loves baseball, and we catch Padres games whenever we can. She also caught the running bug about five years ago, and occassionally I will try to keep up with her (when I'm not on the computer playing World of Warcraft).
