Was just trying to avoid the temptation for someone to wait til last to try to determine where they would fall in the first round... prolly not a big deal

Novie just so I get this straight,I have Brooklyn and NYG-post so I can only pick and lose players from what 1942-62. With the Yanks 1942 till the present and the Mets 1962 to present. Also I can only pick up players that played for one of my franchises during that time period.

Elibility:

1. Any player designated by SOM to your franchise/era is yours to protect.

2. FA eligible is any player who played for your franchise/era during that period. The cutoff line for FA is Pre1945 for the Pre sets and 1946 and up for the Post sets. There are some players who played during both eras and are eligible for both.

[b:a5aa4dab7a]Examples:[/b:a5aa4dab7a]
Joe DiMaggio... franchised to Pre NYY but did play after 1946 so he is eligible as a FA to Post NYY too.

Willie Mays... franchised to Post NYG and is FA eligible for SF as well. [b:a5aa4dab7a]NOT [/b:a5aa4dab7a]eligible to PRE NYG

Sandy Koufax/Don Drysdale... franchised to Post BKN and is FA eligible for LA as well... [b:a5aa4dab7a]NOT [/b:a5aa4dab7a]eligile for PRE BKN

Barry Bonds... franchised to SF and is eligible as FA to Post PITT but [b:a5aa4dab7a]NOT [/b:a5aa4dab7a]Pre PITT

Roger Clemens... franchised to New England, is eligible as FA to Hou, Tor, Post NYY but [b:a5aa4dab7a]NOT [/b:a5aa4dab7a]Pre NYY

That's a bit ridiculous to have guys around the WWII era to cross over. Wouldn't it just be easier to have guys split into one or the other?

Questions for Novie

Postby 2cityfan » Wed Oct 21, 2009 9:29 pm

Novie, what about the rest of our roster... so we protect 4, and draft 4 players who are eligible for our roster...

are restricted to our assigned franchise/era teams for the balance of our roster selections?, or can we draft anyone who played for our franchise/era no matter which team/era the player is carded to (except for the live drafted players of course)

What about the in season free agent rules.. if I drop one of my non carded players, can I replace them from the free agent pool with any other eligible player or carded players only?

Please advise.. thanks

2city question: Remainder of roster must be from your franchise/era. Only 4 FA can be on your team. You can replace FA's if you so choose.

Thats the rule from the beginning of the league set-up. I dont see why it's ridiculous... the played during both which makes them FA of one or another.... just like a player who is carded to one team and played for others. This is not necessarily a team/franchise setup.... this is also a regional league. NYY pre and NYY post are two distincly different entities as far as this league is constructed.

I am definitely nopt clear as to who(m) I can draft with the Was which is pre and post and the Balt/Tex/Minn franchises which are only POST so can I draft both pre and post because the franchises are pre andf post ( or at least the WAS were.

I think for you, the first 4 players to protect must be on one of those 7 rosters (WAS-db, WAS-pre, WAS-post, Tex-exp, Min-exp, Balt-post, Balt-exp).

In the second round, when you draft 4 free agents, you can draft anyone who ever played for the Texas Rangers, Minnesota Twins, Washington Senators, or Baltimore Orioles. You don't really have to worry about pre-WWII and post-WWII stuff because your teams don't overlap with anyone else's. Obviously, the guys on those 7 rosters are eligible to be drafted at this time, too.

After that, the remaining 17 players on your draft card have to once again come from those 7 rosters.
