Ouch. Nice pick. Hoping he'd go lower. Hawk took my pick. I am on lunch getting free wireless. Anyone who wants to contact me, please use Yahoo email or give me your IMs. Big Brother has cut off access to these boards from work as well...

That's the tough thing about this format, especailly given we have a head start on who's gonna be ggod next year, do you draft for 2007 and jsut given token effort to 2006? or do you draft a team for now and hope for the best.

BTW, qksilver I wanted Hafner

Yep. I am willing to take few lumps in 2006 in order to try and put together the pieces for a shot at a multi-year powerhouse. Atlanta is actually the Giants' Matt Cain P. If one works out, great. If they both grow in to #1 SPs, yikes!

That gives me three 23 year olds now - might have to look at adding some vets for clubhouse leadership before too long.

QK I knew if I didnt take Sizemore with that pick you would have taken him off the board before it got back to me.

Yeah Hawk, that's the pick that upsets me - I had Sizemore as my next pick!

Man, I hate this concept!

Ninersphan, I think there are enough players to do both: compete in 2006 and build for 2007.

I think tanking the entire 2006 season would not be in the spirit of fair play and I wouldn't choose to do it. But if someone chose to go "Detroit Tigers" and get absolutely crushed this year, it would be difficult for me to object since it's a valid strategy that is actually working in real life.

The problem with young pitchers is the 3 I's:

1) immaturity
2) injuries
3) inconsistancy

That's why finding pitching in long term keeper leagues can be a crap shoot sometimes - remember Odalis Perez? Joe Mays? Derek Lowe?

AMEN KD

anyone remember the Mets' Generation K???

Beach I'm not saying anyone would delibratly tank this year for next, just maybe prioritize 07 before 06.

I agree with the young pitching theory. There were a few that I really like but not enough to spend a 3rd round pick on "potential".I figure D Lee will give me a great season this year and hopefully get back around the 1st of July and still get in around 80-90 games and still have a good card next year(plus he is still only 31 years old) .I dont mind the injury roll in this kind of format
