Hey guys, if you have the time, I am asking for opinions on a topic that has come up in another keeper league I am in. Basically, another owner who is out of contention, dropped G. Sizemore from his roster and has basically replaced him in the lineup with E. Byrnes and D. Young. I called him on it and he stated in so many words, that he was hoping to improve his draft position. If you wouldn't mind, check out the discussion in the Major League Keeper League Chat thread and give me your thoughts. I think I am in the right, but maybe I am naive and pontificating too much. Let me know ...

I read the ongoing situation there, I feel a little out of place just voicing my opinion in a league where I'm not participating but I will say this:

The way [b:d52e6c6daa]I[/b:d52e6c6daa] approach my teams and my leagues is with a responsibility to better my team and to be as competitive as possible in all games. Roster moves & trades have to be looking out for the best result for the team. I do not agree with dropping/benching a guy that gives you better matchups for the sake of getting a better draft position, if you want to move a star player to improve your future then you should trade him away. However, as I said it's a matter of ethics and something that only each owner knows and should act upon. I know in some new leagues some owners draft knowing the first year they will suck big time but with the eyes on the following year. That is a little different but even then in my experience they do their very best to [i:d52e6c6daa]field the best possible team with the players they have in every game,[/i:d52e6c6daa] even throughout their "rough" first season.

I hope the situation there doesn't lead to the disintegration of a keeper group, and that it finds a positive outcome.

IMO...I see no problem here....particularly if it is Delmon who was picked up(good future). I would have hoped he shopped Sizemore first but thats his choice.

Its not like he dumped his entire roster and he did pick up some quality talent. While he may not be playing to win this season he is playing to win over time...Marlins do it all the time.

Also, just a suggestion(my apology if you have done this)....but in the future when you have an issue to debate you might want to start with PM's rather than open forum disscussion. It is less volatile and in keeper leagues allows you to police from within. Looks like your league is handling the "issue/non-issue" with grace but it could escalate and thats never any good.

I don't have a problem with it either. If he's isn't gonna win this year and is looking to improve for the future, I see nothing wrong with trying to improve draft position, he probably should have shopped Sizemore assuming he out and out dropped him, I can't tell if he dropped him from just his active to inactive roster because I don't know the particulars.
I see your point if it's an outright drop and not just a roster juggle, but I still think if he believes he's bettering hiimslef for next year by getting rid of a player as good as Sizemore then that's his perogative.
I'd look at the upside, now Sizemore is available in your next draft :wink:
