Meat, on a roll w/ the Bond trivia! And in the original TV movie of "Casino Royale," Bond was American and called "Jimmy Bond" !
New movie rocks, Meat. It's even on DVD now for you homebody types. Even better action flick that just came out last year: "District B-13." It's French (uh-oh), but it's 80 minutes of pure adrenaline, with more plot than a 2-1/2 hour Hollywood blockbuster.
I liked the Lazenby movie, actually, although he wasn't so good. Connery is still the gold standard, of course, but give the new guy (Daniel Craig, thanks) a few more flix and we might have a contendah. Roger Moore made a couple good ones (Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only) and several bad ones (Moonraker, View to a Kill, and so on). Pierce Brosnan made half a great one (Die Another Day, the first half) a couple decent ones (Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies) and one bomb (The World Is Not Enough). I liked the first Timothy Dalton flick okay (The Living Daylights) but not the second so much (License to Kill).
I far prefer the movies that play it straight, like the new one, to the jokey ones with all the gadgets and double entendres. If you're really a fan of espionage entertainment, nothing tops the three seasons of the British series "The Sandbaggers," (1978-1981) which was actually written by a former British agent, who mysteriously disappeared without a trace during the middle of the third season. No kidding; you could look it up.
