Here goes...

My major thoughts on the 'B' League are that they're not 12 franchises left that would make competitive teams.

I think there are at least 5 (Cin, ChiW, Wa/Min, PhiP and Pitt) with possibly 2 or 3 more (NYMets, Cal, Hou, Wa/Tex).
It's possible that some of the remaining franchises might be good enough, but I'm not optimistic. My guess is that we could come up with 7.

The solution , I think, is for a comittee to cull through the remaining rosters and try to put together protected rosters for the best 7 or 8 teams (or more if they look good enough).

SD

c Piazza
1b McCovey, Garvey
2b Cash
ss O Smith, Templeton
3b Nettles
of R Henderson, C Martinez, Gwynn, J Clark

sp G Perry, Valenzuela, Jones, Show
rp Lefferts, Fingers, Gossage, Schiraldi

TOR

c L. Parrish
1b Olerud, McGriff
2b Alomar
ss Fernandez
3b Molitor
of G Bell, Winfield, Barfield, Canseco, Mondesi

sp Stieb, key, Flanagan, Morris
rp Henke, Plesac

Note: SD could be stronger if TOR was NOT a franchise. They would pick up Alomar, Fernandez, Winfield, McGriff

Those look very interesting.

One thing that would help, is if you would post their salaries. This would give me a better idea on the value of the players (since they are all new)

My primary concern is pitching.

Toronto looks pretty weak in this regard.

The good news is that the modern era DOES have some great pitching cards.

Also , when posting possible rosters we may want to sho the positions with the BEST possible choices with the lesser choices next to them.

There will be some serious domino effects with certain players (as usual) such as Perry and Blyleven who can play for many different franchises.

another idea is to look at SS and see which franchises don't have a 1 or a 2 at that position.

I think that would rule those franchises out right away.

I think the Astros and Mariners are screwed in this regard

So we can take them off the list of possibles (which grieves me, but oh well).

We should look at the pitching staffs first, and if they don't have much we should nuke them.

Let me puruse the expansion teams and see which teams truely suck at pitching.

Pitching

Postby CHRISTIANSTOUGH » Thu Jul 31, 2008 9:38 pm

I think their are 86 SP's of a value of 6 million or more.

It would seem reasonable to definitly rule out any team that lacked at least 2 Sp's of 6+

Possible to rule out those with a staff of less than 3 SP's of 6+

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I'm just going to run threw these casually, feel free to draw attention to any players I'm missing.

Washington:(at a glance)
1. Johnson (11.30)
2. Blyleven(8.35)
3. Chance (7.25)
4. Ayers (6.17)
5. Mogridge (6.00)
6. Leonard (5.37)
7. Poterfield (5.22)

Texas
Blyleven (8.35)
Perry(9.12)
Matlack(7.27)
McLain (6.74)
Jenkins(6.79)
Ryan (5.94)
Brown (5.22)

Toronto
Stieb, (6.01)
key(6.14)
Flanagan (4.73)
Morris (3.60)

I think thier staff is way too weak and that they should be ruled out

Seatle (already too weak, rule them out)

San Diego
G Perry, (9.12)
Valenzuela, (5.31)
Jones, (4.22)
Show (3.49)

Again, their staff is too weak for a 100m league- rule them out

Expos

Their staff is god awful- rule them out

Milwakee Brewers

They have Sutton and nothin else- rule them out

Royals

Saberhage at 5m and nothin else- rule 'em out

Expansion teams that might be good enough;

Texas
New York Mets
California

We should proceed with trying to see if these guys can field competitive teams.

Non-expansion(from the original 16 franchises), NOT used in league A that should be fine...although we shoud double check

1. White Sox
2. Phillies
3. Reds
4. Pirates
5. Senators/Twins
