OLD LEAGUE 1/01/09 UPDATES

Postby ArtemusRex » Fri Jan 02, 2009 4:29 am

2002- lost 2/3 to JKolak and am now 1 game behing the other two teams in the Wildcard chase. Doesn't look good but not out. :?

2003- lost another 2/3. Not to comfortable being down 1 game down to Coffee this far down the stratomatic food chain  :P

2004- not liking tonights draft. Picked up underperforming Johan instead of who I was going for with only one SP over 3mil to choose from. Ech! This was my other good card set so it might be time for other to make up ground on me. Not giving up, there's always waiver draft and preseason trades and free agency.

Overall= :evil:

My goal of trying to deny Alexx a playoff berth for playing all my regulars last night worked somewhat. My team won two out of three to finish the regular season split with Artemus Rexx at 11 and 11. Bellhorn went down with an injury but will be back for the playoffs.

For the wild card, here is the situation:

Blacksmiths are 11-10 against the Yankees.
Blacksmiths and Caciques are split even at 6-6.
Yankees are 5-4 against the Caciques.

Caciques have the best run differential followed by the Yankees and Blacksmiths.

Caciques have control over their own destiny. The Yankees need one more win tonight than the Caciques. A tie in the standings gives them the playoff berth. Blacksmiths need one more win tonight than the Caciques since they are on the short end of the run differential tiebreaker.

Congrats to the Blacksmiths for controlling their own destiny and making it in the 2002 playoffs by way of sweeping my team. I lost 5 of my last 6 games to teams that were going to the playoffs. I hung around all season as a fifth place team so I can't get mad for finishing there. Can't argue with that.

[EDIT: Okay, technically sixth place.]

02 Playoffs

Postby gross54 » Sat Jan 03, 2009 8:57 am

I am ready for you JKolak. I shall take the giant down. I am Waterloo to your Napoleon, David to your Goliath, Delilah to your Sampson, Corey's Hiam and Feldmen to your Kiefer Sutherland. I have stocked up on wooden stakes, garlic and holy water and have asked a Catholic priest do bless my Strat dice. Being a former Alter Boy I am very tight with some higher powers.

Bring it on Jkolak...you are out manned and out numbered. You are going down very very hard. It will not be slow or enjoyable, this WILL be painful.

Good Luck

Congrats Gross on winning the Central. For the record, we split 6-6 during the regular season. That should make for a competitive series. You are more in luck with facing me in a 2002 league. I've now put half my teams into the playoffs but have won only 9 titles (20% success rate).

Nevertheless, with my offense, pitching may not matter. If my team goes 2-0 at home, you can pack up your pintails and put them into your perky.

Down to a best of 1 to take on the Coffee Man in the finals...I like my odds with Milton going up against Roa...need to score early and often to send Gross packing.
