Clock's on. Need to check in once in a while

Postby ktoe072031 » Mon Jan 23, 2006 2:32 pm

The clock is 4 hours, Lucky can go if there is a 4 hour gap between the last pick and Scott's.

Clock goes to 3 hours the next time it's MTH's turn and then 2 for the remainder.

ktoe,

What are the hours for the clock? (i.e. at what time do we start and stop the clock each day?)

I am not posting a pick until Scott posts his. Skipping guys during a draft (especially during some of the most important rounds) is unfair.

No clock

Postby ktoe072031 » Mon Jan 23, 2006 5:20 pm

It was stated to me that using a clock may not be fair without a proxey system in place. I have to agree. It's also felt that we wouldn't want to alienate any new players. Keeping the no clock in mind let's try to check the thread as often as possible. I am available to take proxies either via IM or e-mail. Feel free to send them or get with me for sorts.

It should be noted that, according to the league's constitution

[quote:2b86f10a8c]There will be a 4 hour time limit. If your pick is not made within that time limit, HAL will pick for you, using the Draft-O-Matic software. Proxies are welcome and encouraged.[/quote:2b86f10a8c]

In other words, it isn't necessary to completely skip a team, but enter what the DOM considers the "best available player." Of course, although it is not directly stated, a member could go back and change the "auto" selection to any player not subsequently selected. The player the DOM chose may not be exactly what the member wants, but will probably be a player good enough to use or trade.

I'm not firm on strictly enforcing this rule, by the way, but point it out as an option and a reminder that it was something to which all at least tacitly agreed upon signing up. Yes, sometimes posting a pick is a problem -- especially during work hours -- but it's not terribly difficult to estimate a general time frame in which one's turn should come up in the draft and to check in periodically to monitor the draft's progress.
