I think we need to pause the draft until Catom makes a pick or we need to go find a replacement. Just a thought.

I was making my picks when the above suggestion was made.

I will relinquish my pick in the 6th round if we are stopping for CATtom. I think I should be able to keep my 5th pick if the rest of the league is keeping theirs.

Hi Jay, I hate to stop, but I think it's probably best to put the draft on hold for the moment. Per your suggestion, we will halt the clock for now, at the end of the 5th round:

{{PENDING PICKS}}
26. CATom
47. CATom

{{ROUND 5}}
49. Lumbercompanysouth - Placido Polanco-3B
50. CATom -
51. MANLEEMAN -Alphonso Soriano
52. ironwill1 - Cliff Floyd - LF
53. ggrover -Jorge Posada c
54. joekendall - Magglio Ordonez - RF
55. tcochran - Castillo, Luis - 2B
56. herge - roger clemens
57. killermarc - tim hudson
58. jflatour99 - Octavio Dotel SP
59. padrenurgle - Mike Mussina
60 JMP 1 - Aramis Ramirez

{{ROUND 6}}
61. JMP 1 -
62. padrenurgle -
63. jflatour99 -
64. killermarc -
65. herge -
66. tcochran -

To be completely fair, shouldn't we make that pause at the end of an EVEN round ? After all, choosing among the firsts is an advantage and in a snake order, choosing twice (60-61 / 59-62 / 58-63 , ...) is our way to have an advantage. I don't know if you follow me ?
I'd propose to stop at # 72

I just sent the following email to CATom -- and also PM'd him with it -- and also paged him with it on the main discussion thread.

Life happens -- and we don't know why he's gone missing -- but I sure do hope he returns soon.

Hi Tom,

We have put the Reelin' in the Years' League draft on hold at the end of the 5th round, awaiting your return.

It would be great if you could make your picks #3, 4 and 5 so that we can start up again.

Ironwill1 proved the other day that falling 3 picks behind is not a disaster, since he grabbed 3 fine players when he came back online. I hope that you will do so, too, in the very near future.

Thanks!

Terry

It's always fascinating to watch the different managing philosophies during the draft.

For what it's worth, here are my initial impressions after the first 5 rounds, 20% of the draft:

MOST AMAZING SLUGGING OUTFIELD: herge with Ramirez, Drew and Walker (plus Sosa as DH)

FANTASTIC INFIELD: joekendall with Helton, Kent, Jeter, and Chavez

BEST DEFENSE UP THE MIDDLE: tcochran with Rodriguez, Castillo, Rollins, and Jones

START OF THE SCARIEST ROTATION (EARLY YEARS): killermarc with Martinez and Hudson

START OF THE SCARIEST ROTATION (LATER YEARS): lumbercompanysouth with Hallady and Sabathia

MOST $$$ PAID FOR 3 PLAYERS: grover at $29.21 Mil for Bonds, Boone, and Suzuki
(and followed closely by herge at $28.19 Mil for Sosa, Walker and Drew)
