Almost Pre-Card Draft

I had proxies loaded today so should have fired normally, hopefully you were just running across the 5 min window between picks....

Boggin' down a little fellas, try to leave enough proxies to cover at least 2 picks....

Well it was 20 min past woody's time so I went ahead and picked. Hopefully he's just busy and forgot to check in.

no problem geekor. I didn't miss anyone important anyway and I was on the road most of the day.

Qk - you are too funny. You tease penn abut his Aybar pick and then you go and draft two starters who definitely wont make the set - neither Maholm nor Cain will see TSN cards this year... :P

We need to encourage proxy use more as it seems around half the time we are using the whole 3 hrs during the weekday, which is what I wanted to avoid with Penn's site. If everyone is ok with it, I may want to move us to a 2-hr clock during weekdays to avoid getting bogged down like this. Any objections?

Ineluki - would you care to place a friendly wager on that? The cutoff is 25 IP in most cases, and you can't set "avoid" with SPs with any effect the way you can with hitters or RPs, so both Cain and Maholm should get cards. In my sims Cain is getting an ERA of around 3.50 & a WHIP of 1.10, good but not insane, and Maholm is same ERA but higher WHIP. No question in my mind they will have cards in the 6-8M range. TSN only excludes when a player would have a truly whacked out impact on replay stats, and neither of these guys would...

Aybar is a way different case - highest OBP in the set vs RHP, switch hitter, only 80 PAs. He can easily sim out at an OBP of over .500 when set to avoid LHP, which almost guarantees exclusion....

QK, I got a couple of questions for you...

1) Make sure I got this correct. We only get to drop 3 of our picks to get 3 other guys after we can see the pricing correct? That means some people may be forced to drop their high priced guys to get under, right?

2) What about players that don't get cards? Are they free to replace, or do they HAVE to follow the rule above (i.e. they are one you have to replace as your 3, no arguments)??

3) about what value do you have my team at right now?

Thanks!

I beg to differ Qk. Cain has zero hits on his card absent the ballpark homers. That card will NEVER make the set...

As for Maholm, he pitched all of 30 innings. That is below the cutoff as well..

Cutoff is 25 IP, right? TSN says that in the FAQ, so if Maholm has 30, why would they not include him?

Cain has natural HRs on his card besides the BP HR. I agree he is riskier, but I think he still has a shot....
