ah, the whisps of nostalgia wafting through the corridors of the memories, ever gentle on my mind. a good old fashioned message board draft. Im on a layover in ohare on way to cleveland. atleast a couple of picks have been made, but looks like I'll be waiting a while to find out if the other guy I was hemming and hawing about makes his way back to my 7th round pick. I'll be around tonight for p.t.'s if people want to proxy and keep this thing going if enough of us are around. should be in my room about the time bk resurfaces on the left coast. ofcourse we have no way of knowing the colonels proxies since they're buried in the rubble of penn's sight, unless he p.t.'d a copy to someone.
dissapointed no one supremely pained by the hiram pick, but makes a nice platoon cf with dejesus

anyone with spare time want to put the picks in order rather than by position just to amuse themselves and make it easier to see whose turn it is and who picked last? :?:

Wellllll....we know whose turn it is and who picked last by the gap in the draft list and the boldfaced player pick, though maybe that doesn't pop up on your laptop browser....I actually thought the Hiram pick was a head-scratcher, working on platoons so early when there are so many positions to fill, but it does get the Meatman at least one defensive replacement for the two-headed brick monster Manny Sheff....Just waiting for that Camden Yards pick any round now....

Sent a 2nd proxy to Curt, in case the first goes belly-up. Also sent out a bunch of PT invites to my virtual friends so we can keep this thing rolling as Penn's site doesn't....

Frankly, I'm appalled that Penn might be stresssing out that his site's not working while he's on vacation....Jeezuz....the guy does this as a favor....when he gets back, we should all send him a thank you....I mean that really.....

I've got an envelope icon flashing at the top of this page, which I assume is the PT proxies.

Sorry, Meat, don't have the picks in order - just the positions, as Al had. I can reconstruct my own (Ichiro, Radke, Konerko, Chavez, Duchschererererer, Lee), but that's it.

I think this is all a conspiracy to make it even rougher on the rookie.

I sent AP an email.

Just had a horrible thought: penngray gets back, gets his site working again, and it executes a bunch of proxies that no longer are any good because people have been selecting on this message board. I'll see if he can deal with that.

It should be Meat's turn on Penngray's site. As long as Meat doesn't make a pick, we should be OK.

We would just need to make sure everyone has a chance to update their proxies to equal their picks on this board before Meat kicks things off with his Hiram pick.

Can someone explain to me about drafting a team of just 23 to start? I gather that you're allowed to do this, though must submit 25 initially for the league to draft on SOM. Does this mean that you could pick a team of 23 for $54 million, stick any two guys in the team that drafts on SOM to make up the numbers from the excess salary cap, then waive them in the preseason?

cwolf...you must leave atleast 1 million extra, or spend max of 53m on your 23 players so you can draft two .50 players to fill out your original roster. for the regular season you can carry as few as 23 or as many as 28 players, but at a total of no more than 54m for opening day. at the end of each week, the payroll will be upped by 3m to add additional players to our pitiful rosters, but as you can see just a quarter of the way through the draft, there will be NO ONE OF ANY WORTH WHATSOEVER LEFT!
