Named after my favorite Billy Joel song, this is the "Only the good [i:9fc946e897]Cy[/i:9fc946e897] Young" League :-) :
Rules are going to be easy to comply with and build a team, you guys have really taxed me the last 12 seasons trying to keep up with all the creative and challenging twists you guys came up with.. ':P'
1.) You have exclusive rights to all the players on your 4 era rosters.. rights extend from Auto Draft through the entire season.. You must keep a minimum of [b:9fc946e897]20[/b:9fc946e897] players from one of your 4 carded teams on your roster at all times..
example, only the Yankees can have Babe Ruth...he's not eligible for the Red Sox, only the Cards can have Hornsby ect....
2.) Open Free Agent Pool is players from White Sox, Cubs, Braves, Reds and other teams that are not assigned to one of the 12 managers this season..
Minimum eligibility for a free agent to be on your roster:
for position players, minimum of 600 PA's with your team
for starting pitchers minimum of 25 decisions with your team
for relief pitchers minimum of 75 IP's with your team
if a pitcher has both SP/RP ability, then he needs to meet one of the 2 criteria above
example, Bret Saberhagen could pitch for Boston, he had 42 decisions as a Red Sox player and is not carded to any of the 11 other managers in the league
3.) At least one pitcher on your team must have won the Cy Young award.
He did not have to win it while a member of your team..he just has to of won it. example, Bruce Sutter (carded as a Cub) meets the usage threshold and can play for the Cardinals.. he won the Cy young as a Cub, but the Cardinals can use him to meet the one Cy Young award winner criteria.. This Cy Young award winner requirement extends for the entire season. So if the Cards decide to drop Sutter, they can if they still have Bob Gibson who also won it. If they don't have any other Cy Young award winning pitchers, then Sutter has to stay on the Cardinals roster (not a big sacrifice)
I checked and every team has at least 2 choices to meet this criteria (except the Pirates - I hope Vern Law works out for you)..
Since the league is set up for waivers you should put any desired free agents that could play for other teams in this league at the top of your autodraft list.. and we will let HAL sort out who wins their free agent bids
Pick any home field that corresponds to one of your 4 era teams
