A 3rd,4th or 5th round draft pick in the Spring free agent draft.... in my opinion not for how much was
gained or lost but as a warning and/or deterrent to future offenders. How well Valverde performed doesn't matter...we were LUCKY he didn't make an impact on the division race...he COULD have....IMO.

As you all know I'm a Mets fan, as a fan I collect McFarlane Sports Picks figures of the Mets. I"m beginning to think McFarlane toys has put a curse on the Mets. There are currently 6 Mets on the 40 man roster with figures they are:

David Wright
Jose Reyes
Carlos Beltran
Carlos Delgado
Billy Wagner
&
Johann Santanna

With Wright now going on the DL I'm beginning to think someone is using these things like vodoo dolls and if I was Santanna, i'd be a little nervous.

I'd still like to hear what the rest of you think on splinters roster violation. I'm still not sure whether to strictly dock him a draft pick or do a swap with hawk.

Bill - time for a Solomon-like decision by the commish.

We want to discourage this type of thing by making the penalty harsh enough, but given the inadvertancy of the violation, and the lack of positive results by it, make your decision a little difficult I think.

I'm more in favor of taking away a draft pick - say 5th or 6th round - and then adding on a supplemental pick at the end to compensate for the loss.

Okay, I've thought it over and this is my decision:

[b:ed05d11701][color=darkred:ed05d11701]As penalty for using a player on another managers roster splinter will lose a 4th round Spring free agent draft pick said draft pick will be made up at the end of the Spring Free agent draft as a supplemental pick. Additionally he cannot include the 4th round pick in any deals nor can he trade away the supplemental pick.[/color:ed05d11701] [/b:ed05d11701]


Part of what has made this difficult is that splinter has already traded away his 5th round pick in the spring draft.
Ideally I'd have liked to place the penalty at either the lower 4th or higher 5th round, something like he'd loose no higher than the 42 overall pick and no lower than the 54th, but not having a 5th round pick forced my hand as I believe taking away a 6th rounder is to light a penalty.

I'm a little disappointed with my showing considering I won it all in season 1 but HAL did not like my hitters this go around as Utley, Youk and Wright all severely underperformed their cards.

I'll be updating trades with this info now, so that we have accurate pick numbers. Once the playoffs are concluded I'll send out a final season end spreadsheet for you all to use for off-season planning and trades. 1st of all great job on the way you handle this league.Since this was my 1st season I don't quite understand how you arrived at the draft order for next year's Spring Draft.Since my team was 30 games under .500 for this year's 2 teams I don't understand why I only draft 6th in next year's draft.Am I misunderstanding the way this works ?.... :)

Congrats to Smitty, we had some close games but the offense never really kicked in. Tough to stomach a sweep as we had the best run differential in the league, but Smitty fielded a nice team & kicked our butts...
