My vote on prospect draft is that we do it immediately following the 40-man draft & also randomized. Reason being is that we have a lot of data on which rookies have had an impact in 2007, so I don't think it's reasonable to give anyone an advantage when the cards for next year are pretty much known, follow me?
In other words, for teams that want to play for next year/the future & not so much this year (and there will be some) if we do it of reverse order of standings, it gives them a HUGE advantage if we assume they'll be at or close to the bottom of the standings after our 1st 2-3 seasons are played.
I also think it's important to do the prospect draft BEFORE the cards actually come out for next year, we need to keep some element of risk in a prospect draft even though the stats are there.
Sorry long-winded, but the above is due to KD's ruling (an understandable one given draft site limitations) that only carded players were eligible for this draft. In my mind that changed a lot of things in terms of how to approach the prospect draft....
