1ST LIVE DRAFT 2 left to fill PM, SPLINTER,

[quote:ac1c666f60="AeroDave10"]meat,

I was planning to only draft 24 guys and skip my 25th pick. I can't afford 25 guys, but I have to put 25 on my initial draft card.

I'm assuming we'll have waivers, and our draft picks will be protected through at least the waivers period, right?

I'm sure other folks may run into similar problems with not drafting enough catchers, or too many or not enough pitchers, or something like that.[/quote:ac1c666f60]

I don't get this. I thought we we 'savvy veterans'? We agreed to draft 26, so we're all responsible for drafting 25 players plus a stadium. Not 24; or 22; or 23. What am I missing here? :?

I'm pretty sure you HAVE to draft 25 players AND stay under the 100M cap.

the next part I'm not sure about, but I believe the following:
Next, you put those 25 on your autodraft. After the autodraft runs, then tinkering can begin.

Is that not standard?

You only have to have 24 players on your team. I don't understand why we have to draft 25 players if I only really want 24 on my team.

I consider this to be more of a problem of TSN in general than this particular draft, but I still think if you only want 24 guys on your squad you should be able to draft those 24 and maintain rights to them.

You draft according to the rules established at the beginning of the draft. In this case, it was agreed (you posted your agreement as well Dave) to draft 26. That means 25 players and 1 ballpark. There is no other way to look at it, I'm afraid. Otherwise it would be unfair to those that drafted according to the rules, and took a lesser player to stay under the cap.

yes, unless posted earlier, which it wasn't you can sneak under cap in draft by leaving out a pick. many of us will go with 24 man rosters, but Paul explained it well, that'll have to be adjusted in the autodraft. that's one of the reasons we only drafted 24 rounds with stadium in the other leauge I just finished. it's a problem easily correctable in ATG drafts because you simpl;y put a cheaper speaker, or cepeda or mantle or whomever on your DD draft, and put the real one in after the AD.
i am going to have to likely draft someone I don't use, and maybe miss out on someone I could have claimed, but we're all in that same boat. if you're not going to get under the cap, DD simply blanks out any card to expensive for the money you have left.

ive got to run off to a meeting. dave, if you were planning on this, ill allow you to drop polanco if you want to create some cap space and replace him since not TOO many picks have been made in case someone wanted or proxied him. if you did and you missed him, post here, and we'll leave him untouched until you replace a subsequent pick with placido, otherwise, he's back in the pool.
someone will have to approve dave's drop, ive got to run

Aerodave, 6 players left to draft and $7.37m left. Where is the problem here?

meat,

I haven't spent all of my money yet. I will just adjust my plan through to the end.

I wrote an e-mail to the TSN/SOM staff requesting if they can change the draft structure to avoid this dumb problem in the future. You shouldn't have to draft two guys you don't want instead of one guy you do want.
