We had 3 rounds, but only 24 teams. So to get to the Finals round, it basically had to be combined records of BOTH RD 1 and 2. But with a 48 TEAM SINGLE ELIMINATION 3 ROUND TOURNAMENT, it wasn't required - AND is definitely a lot less work.
But I like the idea of a standard 1st Round, allowing everyone to play to their strengths. Good records in the 2nd round with unique stadiums, but DIFFERENT CAP(Next Year, I am going to make RD 2 60M and drop the 100M Cap), motivates players to play very hard to get the distinguished 1st or high pick for stadiums in RD 3(Finals Round) - Which will be 80M CAP next Year - also with Unique Stadiums.
At this level of competition, I don't think you can say either league in Round 2 this year was easier or harder. But it is is just the way it fell together.
All that really matters in a Tournament (Or any competition for that matter) is that the rules are the same for everyone and that in the 1st round everyone has an equal chance to be one of the 6 teams from their respective Leagues to make the 2nd round. Same thing for round 2.
I just like the single elimination rule because it is simpler and not really debateable. You either make it or you're out. I hope there are not any complaints about the tiebreakers.
Of course, I am open to ANY suggestions by ANY of the members of the LOTO family.
I'd have to say that this year's Tour went much more smoothly than the 24 team Tour last year - especially with the assistance of a number of players.
I still plan to use simple AD formats with the same high level of competition and expect that the Tour could actually grow to more players and a bigger field (At least in the 1st Round.)
I hope this year's Tour has been as enjoyable for everyone here as it has been for me - even tho I have been eliminated in RD 2 for the 2nd straight year. :o
GL to all in the Finals.
BTW, I don't know where Riggo disappeared to. I play in the Pepperdine League with him and nobody could locate him to play for 6 weeks. Hopefully, he will turn up soon and will be able to play without holding everyone up. In the past, I had always had the backup plan - That if anyone couldn't play or dropped out for ANY reason, that their spot would go to the next best record in the prior round.
I am ultra busy thru the Xmas Holidays, but will be checking in periodically late at nite or early before work.
