I knew Rasmus wouldn't make it back to me, but I was hoping people would forget about Gallardo. ;) I've never done a prospect draft before like this, but I get this feeling by the time the 3rd round comes we'll all be throwing darts at names of players we've barely heard of. ;)

I also expected Gallardo to slip through the cracks, but then Steve took him right in front of me... :x

I hope this is the end of the flame war. I understand that it can feel frustrating when others hold up the draft, but I also realize that people have lives outside of Strat, as Ineluki so clearly showed. So I am angry at nobody and looking forward to a fun league.
Ndowdy, I also have had these fantasies of how all these great players would drop to me, but I have found this is a smart group, and i can't expect them to miss much. Actually you are lucky that Gallardo was picked now, because if he hadn't been, he was my second choice after Wieters, so I would picked him right before you, and that would have been REALLY frustrating. My top 4 choices after Wieters (Gallardo, Porcello, Carpenter, and Price, in that order) are gone, I am now hoping for number 5, and number six is playing like a turd, so I don't think I want him anyway!

I didn't really think Gallardo would make it nearly back to me either, it was more of a tongue in cheek type of hope. Kinda like my hope that Pujols was going to fall to 12 or that you guys would have saved him for me like I asked. ;)

I'm sorry for my hold ups in the draft. I also had a death in my family during our draft, finished my degree and graduated, and started a job hunt all within the short span of our draft. As Ineluki demonstrated and litangel seconded, we all have lives.

I didn't take any offense at all to Ineluki defending himself in advance just in case. I did the same thing, just not on the boards, by privately asking our commish before making my first pick whether or not people like Carpenter and Gallardo were eligible. I came very close to taking Carpenter and probably would have been happier if I did. I like the idea of a known quantity, and plus he's one of my favorite pitchers.

I sometimes have a tendency to draft, make moves etc. that are actually a little to my competitive disadvantage as far as winning, but I really don't care that much. I'd much rather have fun with strat then make it some kind of dog eat dog competition.

I was a little surprised at the flame towards Ineluki, but I also notice it has been deleted, so the guy probably realizes it was a bit harsh. This is my first keeper though I have been playing strat on TSN since it's inaugural season, and on the board years before that. That being said I want us all to get to know each other and maybe even make a few friends. But we can, at the very least, respect each other and get along if we are going to hold the keeper league together.

I was a part of a keeper league during the brief run of TSN Strat Football (which I really wish they'd bring back) and I made friends there that I interact with to this day. Three of us run a team together on goallineblitz.com (geekor is one of them, who some of you may know.)

Sorry for the extended soliliquy here, but I just felt like getting some of that out, the little flame war was shocking to me because it seemed to come out of nowhere and was a bit unreasonable IMHO. No hard feelings here though from me about anything that went on during the draft or since. I'm here to have some fun. :)

TRULY SORRY

Postby CaliENGR » Sun Jun 07, 2009 4:52 pm

TO ALL LEAGUE MEMBERS:

Sorry for the rant directed towards INELUKI & some others regarding the length of the draft. My apologies go out to INELUKI for losing three relatives. One thing I will not tolerate is the expletives flying out of his (INELUKI) mouth thru emails or messages. There is a word called class & it should be used when email/message-ing on here. I may have directed something towards someone but anyone who read it, before I deleted today, knows it wasn't filled with any expletives. This is all I want to say on this matter & good luck to all of you this season.

Sincerely,
Richard Piergrossi
PACIFICA, CA SEADOGS
