The Very Early Pre Card Draft Chat

Postby AeroDave10 » Sun Oct 11, 2009 2:09 pm

The only thing that prevented me from taking Zobrist over Utley was the 600 PAs. If you would have had a few more PAs, Zobrist might have been my 1st round pick! That's what's kept me away from him and Youkilis.

I wasn't 100% in love with Holliday as a choice, but I'm hoping for a good card because he played in a couple of pitcher parks and put up very solid stats.

The next few rounds will be very challenging, I think, as the cream of the hitting crop has been cleared.

That was probably a reach with Escobar, but he will be a 2 and he is R balanced so I had him 3rd on my list for shortstops(even though he has less than 600 PAs). I can't stand having a SS who can't hit!

I was going back and forth b/n Lind and Zobrist...decided to go for straight hitting rather than worry about defensive ratings.

I would have gone for Zobrist, hands down. Much better defense from Zobrist, and at a premium position. Lind will basically have to be a DH.

Me too. Perhaps I confused the positions of Lind and Hill because I didn't check? Yes, I did.

D'oh! Aaron Hill is an outstanding defensive 2B, perhaps the best in the league. I could easily see them giving him a "1" for 2009 (1e8?). Throw in 36 HRs, 108 RBIs, and 724 PAs, and that's much better than his 2.38M of 2008.

There goes Vic the Stick ... I was really hoping he might make it all the way back around to me in Round 4. He'll probably be a "4" with a +1 or +2 arm, but great offensive stats and the only C with >600 PAs. (Mauer had 599 and Suzuki had 598  ).

I hope the rush of the work week does not slow our draft down too much. I was pleased with the pace so far.
