Position League Draft

With a round set aside for any pitcher I don't see the issue with SP vs SP/RP - it just puts another twist into strategy and selection.

PLEASE NOTE: When I went to bed at 11 p.m. PST last night, the league hadn't filled. At 9 a.m. PST this morning, three managers had already drafted. despite the fact that several questions about the ground rules remained -- and still remain -- unanswered, and our commissioner hasn't been heard from. I'm not clear why the rush, and I'd sure like my questions to be answered before we go any further:

1. If drafted players are indeed eligible to play any position they're carded for, shouldn't we indicate which position we're drafting them for? That would prevent someone from drafting, say Musial, as a LFer, but then. in a later round, seeing that more good LFers were available than 1b men, drafting another LF, planning to play Musial at first. I assumed that the concept of this league was to draft one player at each of 12 positions. And, for players with multiple cards, shouldn't we specify which season we're drafting? I don't mind if we PLAY players at any carded position once the season starts, but this point should be clarified NOW.

2. What's the timetable for the draft? I have a life beyond Strat, and I don't want to bog down the draft if I'm not near a computer when it's my turn. I'm more thahn happy to send my proxies to someone who drafts behind me, but I do need to plan ahead.

Tom... that is the strategy part of a position draft... being able to make moves like you described above.


However, Hornsby is not eligible at any position other than 2B. Your pick needs to be re-done.

Okay sorry I was called away for the last day and a bit.

You may draft ANY player who is eligible to play that position but he does NOT have to play that position if you don't want him to. BUT the card you pick MUST have him eligible to play whatever position you are selecting him for in the draft so certain Musial cards wouldn't work for RF and certain Cobb cards wouldn't work for RF. On a crad that DID have Cobb playing RF AND CF you could draft him at RF and then play him in CF or DH.

SP is SP only no SP/RP, in the 'any pitcher round' you can select what you want there, RP is RP only.
I hope that answers the question I will scroll through and see if there are more questions and then select my pick.

Any stadium may be used - no unique stadiums
140 mil, DH, ATG 5 - divisions will be come as you are when the draft is done.

Have fun

Try to state the year of the card we know the card is eligible.
One strategy ( I don't recommend it) is to draft all scrubs at these positions and 'hide your team' from the opponents. You DO need to keep the players on your team if you draft them - you may trade them but not release them. If that affects the strategy of people already drafting go ahead and change your picks- this filled faster than I was ready and I didn't get to this until now so I am sorry for any confusion - the fault is entirely mine.
I will be glad to take proxies but this weekend may be a little tough given I am away - will be fine by Monday.
