Johnny Damon will be searching for a new home in the "Know When to Hold 'Em" league as well as MLB due to the trade that was finalized this morning between the SoCal Running Rebs and the Heffer's Clydesdales II.
The trade sent Damon along with Mark Buerhle, Justin Duchscherer, and Alex Gonzalez (of Marlins) to SoCal for Mark Texiera, Jamey Moyer and Randy Winn.
Damon had this to say at the press conference with the 4 new members:
"I am excited to join the Rebs for the upcoming season and hopefully beyond. I loved my time in Birchrunville (Home of the Clydes), and will really miss my teamates, the organization and most of all the fans."
One Reb official had this to say about Damon in the Reb uniform: "He looks like a Reb, sounds like a Reb, he is a Reb."
At the Clydesdales press conference the mood was jubulant. The manger, Hooner11 kept mentioning Wynn hitting in front of Texiera and having a solid veterin in Moyer to sit in the #3 spot in the rotation was a step forward in their offseason plan.
"Right now we have laid the groundwork for an exciting offseason. Randy Winn is a dynamic leadoff hitter vs RH, and a good defensive Of. Mark gives us the presence in the #4 spot that we needed to space our lineup out and give us a great professional hitter. We are sad to see Johnny and Duke (Duchscherer), Buerhle and A-Gon. go, but this is a business and this is the right step for our team."
Only time will tell which club will benefit more.
