MoCrash,
We're playing a 154-game schedule, so I don't think there's a need to adjust usage. We'll use a 100% usage, as it's easier to track. (Figuring out what's 105% (or 95%) of 582, for example, on the fly isn't easy. We tried that the last time around (I think at my suggestion, unfortunately, and I apologize for that), and it didn't work out so well. If anything, I'll use the "adjust league-wide stats" function for the '75 players before sending out the next update. (But then there's the issue of what Post-WWII Hof'ers stats should also be decreased. There's something to be said for the KISS method.)
We were split evenly on injuries (4-to-4). If we use 100% use of real life stats, injuries are taken into account, sort of, because you're not allowed to overuse a player. A player's real life ab total reflects his injury frequency. You have to rest players to keep usage down, or risk not having them available for your stretch run. Given the deep player pool, I don't using (or not using) injuries will affect gameplay that much. (As a side note, if it were up to me, I'd say "use injuries, no restriction on usage," as this is the most realistic option. But I think Dave and I are the only ones who would advocate this.) (And as a rant, SOM needs to figure out batter fatigue like they do pitchers.)
Pitchers batting requires more in-game strategy, in my opinion. Plus, with a DH and large player pool, you'd probably find that the games would take a long time, because lineups would be stacked, and double-digit scores for both teams would probably be fairly routine. That's my greatest concern with this league--that the fact that we're boiling down 24 teams to 8 makes the player pool too deep.
Finally, by my count, there were 4 players without defense ratings: F.Robinson (barely over 100 abs), T.Davis, W.Horton, and T.Oliva. Given the deep player pool (24 teams to 8 teams), I don't think any of these players will be missed much, and I'd have been surprised if any were actually drafted, even if we had used the DH.
