Holding onto an 11 game lead with 2 weeks go ... really hope I can pull this off since it will likely be my only playoff bound team in the 4 seasons!

wjannsens team is on a tear, so it looks as though both the Central & West could be sewn up in a couple of nights. The East is still pretty tight, while LMBombers has a good grip on the WC.

Management has announced that, after the conclusion of the season, my starting pitchers (except for Hooton and Caldwell) will be taken out and shot.

Fred, Major League Baseball typically frowns on disciplinary actions which include shooting ballplayers. However, this is one of my worst teams I've ever had.............so, bring a gatling gun with a lot of ammo. I have 24 players who need to be put out of my misery!!!

This has been a pretty strange league with the major differences between haves & have nots. Not sure if it is because of the salary cap, the way teams were set up or due to die rolls & park matchups. I certainly was not expecting to take a 10 game lead in the first week and hold on to it all season long, and I doubt wjanssen was expecting (maybe hoping for ;)) a team that is on pace to reach 100 wins. :)

At the very least, at least the East is still tight, and there is a playoff race for the WC, with 4 teams within 4 games.

I think my magic number to clinch officially is 3 wins and/or steveames losses.

AT,

Yes, undoubtedly I did not think I had a 90+ win team on my hands to start the season. With SF '62, I knew I'd have offense, but I was also starting Dwight Evans in RF, Marty Barrett at 2B, and Jose Pagan at SS

The real surprise, and the sole reason I'm even above .500, has been the success of my pitching. Playing in a 120M league, in Fenway '86, I knew I'd have a good chance when Clemens starts, but thought that SP's Hurst, Gibson and Boyd would get hit hard with HR's... they've amazed me all season (Oil Can just won his 20th!).

Bottom line, my team's been very fortunate in the rolls, I'd have to believe. Still, I'll surely take it, as I've had what I thought to be good teams lose 90+ games as well (haven't we all?!?!). :)

Congrats go out to doctortax's AngelAstros' Nolan Ryan who had a record-setting 19 K's in last night's game... I took the liberty of submitting the performance to Mighty Moose's records posting site.
Nice job!

Bill

Nice to see something positive for my team this year. I really thought my pitching would be much better, and thats how I drafted. But alas, guess not.

How long to spring training.

Well Red Beards sweep of LMBombers may have just sealed the WC race, as he has a 4 game lead with 9 games to go. As it is, only the East & WC races are still alive. Unless we count the 4 way battle for last overall. ;)

It has certainly been a frustrating swoon for the Blues. After leading the east for a chunk of the season, my team has simply collapsed. I think I am mathematically still in contention, but I pretty much need to win out.

I was sure that if I kept my ERA down, I would win 85 games--I guess so much for that theory. McGwire's poor showing didn't help much.

Congratulations to Red Beards, Turtle & wjanssen on being the other playoff squads.

wjanssen is the only owner whose team has a real winning record on the road, so it will be interesting to see if that will play to his advantage in the Playoffs.
