My comments are focused on improving the opportunity for improvement for poor-talent teams.

I like the idea of round 1 in the draft excluding the top-tier teams (I would go for only the lowest 12 in the first round).

Also, I would prefer that we require "prospects" to be moved to the 30-man roster or released to the free agent pool when they become carded players. I expect it only involves a handful of players each year, but will put a few more players into the mix.

We have the playoffs and then the supplemental draft -- and then it's time to start a new season. If returning to 24 teams for the next season does not receive 16 votes by the end of the supp. draft, then we will continue as planned, with the 2x12 TKL swapping teams and playing a 2nd season.

I personally took over this sorry *** team to compete in a 24 team keeper league not 2 12 team leagues.
In my opinion putting my team in the elite league was a joke.Obviously you all went with the records from the previous season in determining who was in what league(elite,up n comers).The only problem with that is instead of previous years record it would have been more competitive if all 24 teams were grouped according to "payroll" after the spring draft was completed.My 40 million roster was already a failure before the season started when we were put in the "elite"division hence the 114 loss season.
Basically what I am saying is that in a 24 team keeper league it might be a little more competitive for us bottom feeders if we determined the divisions by payroll and not just previous seasons records.

Hi,

I like the idea of having to put a prospect on the active roster once they get a card. We might want to think about using the unleashed players to add to the talent pool. The payroll idea is a good one but it would add to the book keeping. To me time slots are a must.

How about a hybrid draft?

We've proven repeatedly that a full 10-round draft with 24 teams can be a dreadful experience. What if we modified it, so that most of the pain is avoided?

For example:

a. Let's have 28-player rosters (to allow for a bigger talent pool), with

b. Rosters managed by the game engine (to minimize manual roster-keeping efforts to only tracking prospects) and

c. Only 3 rounds of live drafting (since after 72 picks, we're just looking for spare parts or guys who maybe, perhaps, if we're lucky, might eventually play like big-leaguers).

d. Limit the keepers to 15 or 18 or some other number less than 20 (player pool aid, again) and

e. Then use the game engine autodraft to fill out the rosters, followed by the standard waivers and endgame frenzy activity cycles.

I'm thinking changes like these might make it easier for teams to improve sooner, and they might even encourage some of us to return for another FA draft, too!

Sounds good to me.

One additional request - can we have a season long "injury reserve"? This would be for players that we want to keep the rights to, but who don't actually have a card for that particular season.

The injury reserve might be limited to 1 player per team, or it could be even up to 2 players per team. But my idea is that it can ONLY be used for uncarded players (keeping in mind that we are not using the unleashed set).

The term "injury reserve" could be misleading on my part, since I think it should simply be available to any player, who, for WHATEVER REASON, doesn't have a card for that year. So, the injury reserve could also be used for players who went back to the minor leagues for a whole year, or for so much of the year that they didn't get a card. Basically it could be used for any player who didn't get a card for a particular season.

However, it should be used only for a player that was previously on your roster.

What do you think tchochran - could we layer this proposal of mine together with your proposal?
