well I just happen to think it was a smart gamble. This is not like when Cle DB or CHC pre hitting was taken and the "weaker" but still studly versions of Speaker and Hornsby were snagged first, it was clear that those guys would be used greatly reducing the value of BOS DB hitting and STL pre hitting. Here with Paige having a 5m SP version, it doesn't seem like a great bet that that card will be used in a 140m league, so drafting the 10m version if you need a big pitcher seems like a good gamble.

If you go back to page 7 You will see I saw this coming and asked About Paige and was told he belongs to me. The theme is the first version of a player taken is the one that is used. I drafted Paige as per the rules.

WB, sent you a PM. And yeah, you do own the rights to Paige; the CLE POST version you drafted. He is within his rights to draft the NeL version, but yeah, he can't use him if you have the CLE version on your roster. Here is my re-posting of my reply when you posed that question on P. 7 -

I thought at the time that covered it, and was clear enough to understand. Apparently I was wrong. You own the rights to the cards you drafted. If you were the first to draft a guy, you lock up that player, denying the use of all other cards for that player, as long as you keep that player on your roster. Drop him at any time, and anyone else who drafted a different card for that player could then employ it. Never was anything posted about upgrading to an [i:7a6e02be04]undrafted version[/i:7a6e02be04]. If that was assumed by some, I apologize for not being more clear.

I am relatively illiterate -sad but true- but I thought the rules as you stated them Mark were very clear as for the strong team/weak team nonsense why dont we just play the dang league first before we make such huge leaps of judgement. As many theme leagues I have been in, this has about as much chance to be 'fair' as any I have seen. Seems like a lot of premature whining to me and it significantly detracts from the enjoyment of the game.
The criticism MAY be valid but anyone who has played this game as much as the people in this league have should know to let it run a little before whining.
And yeah yeah I know I had the first pick but I think you'll see my record is rarely if ever whining in any theme league. Let's give it a chance.

I hope we can zip through this last round and a bit. I'd like to finish it today, do the randomizer run for divisional alignment, get the league created and start filling it. Shooting to have this filled by Friday, so we can open Monday. BTW, the way I will apply the randomizer results are, I use the RD 1 draft order numbers (SteveAmes at #1, me at #2....Socalchiro at #12). Whatever order the numbers end up at, the first four listed will comprise the East, the second group of four the Central and the last four listed will be the West. Just so everyone knows up front.
