ATG6 Auction: Closed bidding and nomination thread

Postby JOSEPHKENDALL » Thu Nov 18, 2010 10:05 pm

I believe we should take it very easy on miduar. Due to the more important things going on in his life, he most likely hasn't paid a lot of attention to this process. If he needs us to, I would be in agreement to halt all closed bidding until he can return.

As for Kiner and McGwire, I am sure the bids will be higher than he opened with so I think we don't have to worry about his bids on them.

I agree with the sentiment entirely, and suspect you are absolutely right on Kiner and McGwire. My suggestion would be he modify his opening bids on McGwire and Kiner to 1.11 and 1.10 (that would be their minimum opening bid) and then allow everyone the opportunity to modify their bids on these players. Then he may nominate a third player with an opening bid of 0.75 or less (that would be the most he could bid on 3 players in total).

Regarding the 2 secondbasemen (1 of which he really can't use), does anyone think we should allow a mulligan?

I certainly have no problem with voiding the Sandberg auction (assuming that was the second) if Miduar so desires and then permitting re-bids....or just voiding his bid altogether and proceeding with sandberg as if his were an illegal bid

My only comment with voiding Sandberg is we didn't do this when DHowser ended up with Mantle and Speaker in the last auction. Granted DHowser didn't have the same distractions....

As for McGwire and Kiner, there is no chance miduar will end up with either of these two and I for one am perfectly satisfied with the bids I sent.

I would say let's continue with McGwire and Kiner and as for Sandberg, let's see what miduar has to say on the matter. I'm not going to vote to approve voiding miduar's bid, but if the group votes to do so I have no issues whatsoever with that.

My five cents....

Furthur ...

If we do void miduar's Sandberg bid I would suggest we simply discount his one bid and let joekendall have Sandberg for 5.41.

Would like to hear Mid on the subject of what he'd like to do.

If we void his bid on Sandberg, I am for it going to whoever was the next highest bidder, or redoing an open if it was going that way anyway. Would have to reconsider the closed bid results minus Miduar.

I would ditto that sentiment on the last SP he snagged.

Willing to work with people (except Buck on CF's). But don't think we should go ahead without Miduar's consideration.

Was looking at it and thinking he was going fast, but maybe had a strategy of loading up on the top talent and then min bidding mid level talent since the pool is now so deep.

If I hadn't already named the team, we'd be the Kelly's Minks.

Wow, I REALLY screwed up. My head has been up my hindend the past several days. I'm very sorry.

1. joekendall had a valid bid on Sutter, of 3.89. I overlooked it while rushing;

2. It's my fault for bidding on Sandberg. If you want to void my bid, that's fine with me, and give it to joekendall. If not, I'm not a rookie at this, and can take my lumps;

3. My opening bids on McGwire AND Kiner can be reduced to the minimum opening. I have rec'd 9 bids so far on them, and my initial bids are toast anyway; and,

4. Make my bid on Babe Adams a pass, instead of whatever I had bid, please. I'll get my act together tonight, I promise.
