Finally went over this deal, as a result, smitty now has 11 prospects, he'll need to promote or cut 1. I suspect given the deal, he'll promote Austin Jackson, but do not want to assume that.

This came up in NAKL< thought I'd post it here to as a reminder and to help the newbies:

Prospect pool.

A propsect is defined (for this year) as:

Any player signed to a MLB franchise that has no MLB playing time prior to the start of the 2011 MLB season, that is not currently on a USKL 3 roster or prospect roster.

That means anyone dropped from your prospect roster that has no MLB expierience is eligible for the prospect draft, like Beckham in your example above. That means we MIGHT be seeing some desirable names dropped back into the pool. You are free to Re-draft anyone you dropped of course and that would give you another 2 year stint with them on your prospect roster.
