I like spider's idea a lot. Only the first few rounds (see spider's comment) are done by draft on the boards. The remaining "picks" are done by autodraft selection, as per Spider's description.

As for promotion of prospects, I am good with any version of this, as long as I can understand what the rule is. I am relatively new to keeper leagues, and will defer to the judgement of the veterans. I just think that, as a process, after listening to people's input, the commissioner should make a proposal, and - if necessary - have a vote. No system will be perfect. On the other hand, if there is a concensus among the veteran keeper league players, then just have the commissioner make a ruling and move forward without a vote. Let's keep things moving.

...not in this league. Only carded players are permitted to be drafted in the free agent draft. But I would not like an autodraft at all.

I am in for this year. However, it gets tiresome with all of the rule changes/proposed rule changes. That's one reason I bailed as commish (besides the time constraints). The best leagues I'm in run smoothly because the rules are set and there are very few objections or changes to them.
