Nobody is arguing that is says that in the rules on the spreadsheet - I agree that it does. Instead we are just trying to circumvent an issue we will be faced with many times again, even though DonFESQ has solved it this time around via his bid.

If I were full of pitchers and having to nominate pitchers for others' bidding I would much sooner pass. Is there any good reason why we should not do it this way? Or at least have the option to pass?

Agreed, I can certainly see a problem with this in the future. We probably need to change the rule so nomination can be passed.

McGraw 3

McGraw bkeat23 -- 3

I realize what the original rules stated. There was discussion around this subject several times.

gdwarf - reply to a few posts ago...Palanion didn't want to nominate a pitcher he wanted to bid on. If this happens with only 3 owners left, and they all use the same plan(nominate a player they don't want, and don't bid) the draft slows or stops until someone nominates a pitcher someone else wants to bid on. That's my concern, I've expressed it as best as I can, and I'll stop.

Maybe we won't run into this situation with hitters, maybe we will.

Have a great weekend everyone. :D

yes, you're right, this would be a problem. It would also be a problem if we have only 3 managers left who need pitchers and they all "pass". Then what do we do?

It just makes no sense that they would all pass. Why? At least one would look at the others' finances and nominate someone they want at a price they think they can win him for.

Again, look at the alternative - the nominator keeps nominating people they probably don't want and every 24 hours he gets another try. I don't see how that is better, fellows.

It doesn't matter to me - we are through this time let's see what happens I guess.

Thanks Bkeat - I see your point too. And I have said enough! (four posts ago you are probably saying :) )

Happy Friday All!

Nominations!

Personally I think when we win a bid we should have to nominate a player and make a minimum bid that way your strategy would be to either bid on a player you want or take a chance and bid on a player that you think an opponent may want. In this scenario we won't bring out dead weight and it becomes super important to what decision you make.
In Palanion's case where the bid was dropped to him I don't believe he should have to make a bid in this case.
