And I'm sure there is a good reason why jet40 and danielz sent bids on Radatz but not on Clemens....

I ran outta gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from outta town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake, a terrible flood, locusts. It wasn't my fault! I swear to God!

A suggestion: Regarding the three existing threads being used

1) Players by owners
2) Players by position
3) Closed and Open Financial Statement

Hackra, Carr20 and Litangel, are doing a great job on these, but, realizing with the open bids being used, it has become more difficult, and obviously more time consuming for the person in charge of each thread.

Why not make it the responsibility of each manager to update each thread when they are awarded a player?

I do believe this practice was taken way back when we did our first auction.

probably because there are so many threads and messages to weed through, it's easy to miss an opening bid.

If only one manager does it they can just edit their own post, and they know what is done and what is not. I actually find it harder when multiple folks do it, and it seems some folks always lag at it. Also if multiple folks update, you end up with a long thread.
For the players by position, I am fine doing it by myself, we will just have to check and help each other find mistakes, and not expect perfection.
