Thanks, maligned. The wild card is going to be decided by blind luck, I think, unless the phanatics get a piece of the lead since they own most of the tie breakers.

My BlueRiders beat et's Canucks in the opener last night but then lost two excruciating extra inning games. SMOLTZ (you DOLTZ!) had a hand in both losses. BR is not in control of their own destiny now.

I usually don't say/post some things because I jinx myself to often.

I must have been thinking to hard about my last 9 games being at home and possibly move from being in last place in the division all year to winning it on the last night.

Lost 2 last night & Glaus for the remainder.

It will be fun to watch.

Thanks for the H2Hs Maligned...real hats off to you mah mahn: Best record in the league, given the other players in the league it's pretty impressive...in fact so impressive that it has started in me a series of thoughts ala Oliver Stone that I like to call:

[size=24:6ea74b4aac]MALIGNED-GATE[/size:6ea74b4aac]

Just who is this "Maligned" really?

The Answer [u:6ea74b4aac][i:6ea74b4aac][b:6ea74b4aac]will[/b:6ea74b4aac][/i:6ea74b4aac][/u:6ea74b4aac] be uncovered

Have you noticed that you never see him and Luckyman in the forums at the same time :?: :?: :?:

Have you noticed that he employs tactics that are [u:6ea74b4aac][i:6ea74b4aac]clearly[/i:6ea74b4aac][/u:6ea74b4aac] ahead of his time :?: :?: :?: -Like using team names in f-f-f-foreign tongues

Let me ask you guys: Have you ever met this "Maligned" in person :?: :?: :?:

How do we know that it isn't HAL playing some sort of sick trick on us :?:

So, is he a Myth, a Legend, a simple and humble man living in the forest?

Is he from the future...is he a machine...is he from the Past (Organ Music) ????

Just who is this "Maligned" I ask [i:6ea74b4aac][u:6ea74b4aac][b:6ea74b4aac]you[/b:6ea74b4aac][/u:6ea74b4aac][/i:6ea74b4aac]?

If you have any clues or sightings for discovering the "Riddle of The Maligned" cite them here...if not: Be Afraid...Be very Afraid for in some South American Tribal Chants "Maligned" means "He who gathers the storm to sweep with your Bum!"

(Hope you know we're just joshing Maligned, this is my way of saying"Way ta go!!! Congrats...and I will continue our discussion on pitching in a few days 8)

Though I've certainly had my fair share of good "luck" (lefty stadium, lefty lineup in a righty league), I have never met the great Luckyman (nor has he assumed my identity).
With all Cummings' buildup, everyone's excitement is gonna get crushed when I make a first round playoff exit. :) Unfortunately, I have to say I'm much more like the Wizard of Oz (big buildup with an unimpressive man really orchestrating the show) than I am like Yoda (humble man, hidden powers).
Thanks for the congrats, though. It's been a fun league to learn in. I'm still expecting someone to teach me some rookie lessons in the playoffs.

EDITED Tie-breaker data before Friday night's games:

East Divisional Records:
Phanatics 37-32
Riding Hoods 35-34
Samurai 33-36
Edumacators 33-36

East Head-to-Head:
Phans over RH 13-11 FINAL
Phans over Sam 13-11 FINAL
Phans over Eds 11-10
RH over Eds 13-11 FINAL
RH over Sam 11-10
Sam TIE Eds 12-12 FINAL

West Head-to-Head:
Canucks over BlueRiders 13-11 FINAL

East vs. West Head-to-Head:
Samurai/Edumacators over BlueRiders FINAL
BlueRiders over Riding Hoods/Phanatics FINAL
Riding Hoods/Edumacators over Canucks FINAL
Canucks over Phanatics FINAL
Samurai TIE Canucks FINAL

Because of how tie-breakers would work out, the Canucks, Edumacators, Riding Hoods, and Phanatics all control their own destinies for getting into the playoffs. A sweep by any of these teams tonight would guarantee a playoff berth. Simply winning tonight's series 2-1 would be good enough to guarantee the playoffs for the Riding Hoods and Canucks.

Thanks Maligned. I would have spent all day doing the math on that and not gotten a thing done at work.

I owe you a beer - or two :D

Tyber,
I overlooked something when trying to figure out the possibilities. Your Edumacators would actually clinch a playoff berth with only two wins tonight.

So, the Edumacators, Canucks, and Riding Hoods are all just looking for a series victory tonight.
I'm unclear on how three-way ties across divisions would work. For example, there are scenarios in which the BlueRiders and two east teams could tie for the wildcard. The rules are unclear as to how that is determined. I guess a team would be chosen based on run differential since divisional records couldn't be used. Tyber, your Edumacators will have to hope that doesn't happen also.

I was wondering...I've seen a string on bad records that have won divisions or gotten teams into the playoffs. But, what's the least number of wins you've seen for the best or second best record in a league? There's a strong possibility the second best record in our league will be 84-78. If my Jaguares keep up their terrible month tonight, they could end up with the best record at only 90 or 91 wins. What are some other similar low totals you've seen before?
