Vets vs. Rooks league chat

Yep the cards aren't exactly falling my way and to top things off I have to face the Phanatics tonight who have been kicking my tail lately. I'll just have my boys bring their golf clubs to the yard tonight and save them the trouble of having to go home before they head to the golf course.

Maligned, I think I saw in a thread once where someone made the post season with an 81-81 record but I don't know of any sub .500 teams making it to the big dance.

I just won a 2nd round JaserD Tourney league with an 84-78 record.

Swept the 99 win league leader then went 4-1 against the 98 win team for the Championship.

Lost the Finals in 6 games with an 80-82 team to our friend Penngray.

Yeah, I realize it's possible to get into the playoffs with bad teams. There are some other sub-.500 teams listed on the Big Board. What I was getting at with my question was this: We have an incredibly balanced league. In most leagues, the top couple teams seem to have low to mid-90s in wins. In our league, the Jaguares could end up with only 90 or 91, and the second best team will probably have 84 or 85. Have you seen other low totals for the top two teams?

I just finshed a league where the west division winner had a 78-84 record.

Of course, it went like this in MY division:
1st: 98-64
2nd: 88-74 (wild card)
3rd: 82-80
(me): 81-81

My best .500 team ever. Sigh.

I was in a Tour league with 9 teams between 81-89 wins. Other 3 were 76, 70 (me) and 67.

3rd best record - 86 wins - won the league.

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

I should have known that even suggesting that I had a chance with my last 9 games at home would come back to haunt me. 3-6 with the sweep lost night. Dumb enough to jinx myself.

2nd in the league in runs scored and can only score 7 in the deciding series. While it's fun leading the league in HR's I puke on myself seeing all the strikeouts. I'd have a hard time managing this team in real life. Back to pitchers parks for me.

Enough wallowing in self-pity. :(

Congrats to everyone who made the playoffs and thanks to everyone for making this such a fun league to play in. I always went to this thread first to see what was new.

Looks like we'll have a couple of months before 06 starts up. Anyone for a rematch? I'm sure the deep thinkers here can come up an interesting way to shake things up.

Oh Stoney don't be so hard on yourself, for what its worth I think you did pretty amazing coming back the way you did. I am not sure from how deep you climbed back but you had a pretty good run to climb back to .500.

I'm all up for rematches, only prob is I'm out of credits. Got 4 teams running right now, my Hoods, my Bills that are getting battered around, my Braves barely swimming above waters and my N'Forcers that are up to 87 wins by game 141  , sadly my N'Forcers represent my best chance for a free credit but given how high win teams usually exit early in the playoffs maybe I'll be done for 05...if for whatever reason I happen to run by a free credit then I'm all up for another if all you guys are up for one.

This has been the most fun with Strat I've had and my many thanx to Ty for putting it all together...still think the highlight was the Randy Johnson image thrown by Rob and his unis way back when the league was forming

Anyone wanting to play again is welcome to join the LOTO Consolation League - which I sent out invites to in that league and only myself and Trich from LOTO have joined. It is already up and running and aside from TRich and myself, only Cummings from this league has signed on.

So if there is any ONE PLAYER who is unable to join, the other 9 may join myself, TRich and Cummings - who are already in the east.

It is called LOTO 05' CONSOLATION LEAGUE...PW is"swpsychic" (Lower case) for anyone else from this league on a 1st come/1st served basis.

Penn and ET have already been invited . I actually think JD mentioned that he might want to be an alternate back in November. And Cummings sent him a message to join. So anyone wishing to play with this same group again can do so by joining that league. Plus anyone who ever plays LOTO is invited back to play in the 06' Invitational when the new cards arrive. I think it is going to be 48 teams this year.

See you at the ballpark. Robert(aka swpsychic) :)
