Rules question: In picking individual players, are we limited to the two franchises not chosen in this draft, or are the 12 franchises picked in the first league fair game as well?

I also assume that we are not allowed to pick players from franchises selected in this draft, i.e. Alomar, who played for the Padres but is carded to both Cleveland and Toronto.

Bontomn, the 2 remaining teams plus the 12 teams from the Original League are fair game. As long as a player had 1AB or 1IP for your team he is eligible. In regards to the Alomar question he would be available for you to pick up only if he was a FA. With both Toronto and Cleveland drafted they have first shot at him. Hope this helps.

I would think that we would have to use players carded to the other franchises as well- otherwise, there wouldn't be enough players to go around. There can't be that many useable players who are carded to the two least desireable franchises and who also played for 2+ of the franchises in the league.

Correct as to Alomar-- based on how we did it before, Cleveland and Toronto would battle it out for him on their draft cards. If he's somehow available after waivers, Padres can claim him -- or they can trade for him.

Dukie you can use players from other Expanded Franchises NOT drafted. Your carded players are protected except if they are carded to another Franchise then draft order would determine who gets him. Rod Carew is the perfect example, he played both with Minnesota and California therefore he is eligible for both Franchises if Cali is drafted.

You drafted Minnesota you have exclusive rights to David Ortiz as he played for Minnesota. Check Baseball Reference to see who also played for Minnesota.

You can also place players on your draft card that are available as well and only from undrafted teams as long as they had 1AB or 1IP as some point in their career. After Waivers ALL FAs are fair game.
