10 points for Geezer for getting Roger Taney!

Ok...Andrew Jonson is famous for taking over in office after Lincoln was assasinated (and for becoming the only President to actually face impeachmkent proceedings), but less known is Lincoln's VP during his 1st term in office. 10 points if you can name Lincoln's 1st VP and what state he was from?

The honorable Hannibal Hamlin from Maine. Some in the South tried to start the rumor that Hamlin had Blacks in his ancestry, supposedly because he had a swarthy complexion. After the civil war, he was re-elected to the Senate from Maine.

Hmmm, good question Geezer!

Must've been a moderate/peace democrat from one of the border states?

I wouldn't know McClellan's VP without looking it up. :( You got me there Geezer.

Here is another one........Everyone should be familiar with the famous battle of the ironclad ships the Monitor vs the Merimac. My question is what was the original name of the Merimac?

the original name was the Merrimack. The Confederates re-named it the Virginia.

McLellan's VP running mate was George Pendleton, a democrat from Ohio.
