KD and I finally met face to face today and he got to see my "office".

It was a short but sweet visit and I hope he had a good time.

I think you may have met the most of us in person, due to the travel requirements of your job. If any of you are ever in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls region, LMK.

It was great! Got the tour of the trucks and everything. Watching Freddie Couples tear up the course wasn't too bad either.

You never realize just how much work it takes behind the scenes until you actually see everything laid out - the boards, cameras, mics, people - and the endless miles of cable strung everywhere. Logistics wise it's almost like moving an army division from place to place every week. And it all comes off without a hitch. It's really impressive. And Sandy's probably forgotten more about sound and frequencies than the rest of us have ever learned.

I may have to come up with a new handle for Sandy - how about:

Let's get some picks in!

Postby kaviksdad » Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:07 am

Good morning guys - after a busy weekend I'm back and ready to start cracking the whip!!!

Meeting Sandy was not quite the highlight of the weekend (a horse I have a minor share in won a big race Sunday) but it was pretty damn close. It's great to meet long-time cyber friends in person, and Sandy was the perfect host. Thanks again Sandy for everything - both Gary and I had a great time (if only Freddie had gone for the green and not laid up - and avoided that triple bogey on 2!). I look forward to seeing Sandy again at the Amateur at Chambers Bay in a few weeks.

We're pushing a deadline for Bill, so I'd appreciate it if everyone would try and get their picks in as soon as they can.

Supp Pick trade confirmed

Postby Cubit » Wed Aug 04, 2010 7:38 pm

Trade confirmed-- and nice pick Sandy-- I would have missed him!

I've had trouble getting to a computer that lets me onto the boards when I'm away from the Museum here, and while here I cannot use email, but we're finally getting a system and I am grateful to you all for helping me out.

BTW. While I don't play golf, I, too, love to arrange meetings ftf with SOMO friends and hope to do so when any of you come into the NYC area after November when I return from Japan. Of course, if anyone happens to make the Chiba-Tokyo area of Japan (Sakura City is near Narita airport) part of your travel plans, don't hesitate to let me know. Qk and I almost met up last summer in Kyoto, but didn't quite coordinate.
