Come on guys I only processed 121 add/drops this time! :D
I leave for Moscow today so my roster moves must stick for at least a week.
Yes, the sims drove the add/drop activity as I identified how many relief innings needed and where the league's L/R balance fell et al.
I'm challenged to exploit the sim trends as the 2011 player pool lacks depth (e.g., LF and 3B) where you can improve your win shares with a heavy reverse player. Frankly, the lopsided players like Matt Joyce - under-preform the sims even with HAL adjustments.
In 70% of the sims, Joyce and Hosmer hit 150 to 200 points below their actual OPS! No surprise - Matt Joyce isn't found in many running leagues. Otherwise, I would stick with Eric Hosmer and Joyce with the number of RHPs here.
The players that simmed well are rarely active in TSN. Looking at the leagues, you can't find Morse, Holliday, Aramis Ramirez, and Hamels.
Go figure -
[b:e9356b5b14]TRENDS[/b:e9356b5b14]
My season goes as Anibal Sanchez pitches. If he breaks even, my guys are a .500+ team.
SP quality matters more than I expected. Divisional park mix kills quite a few SPs - the Home + Away splits revealed lopsided results.
Starters with HR issues - going to be a long season. Jim Shields yielded no less than 40+ HRs and led the league in a few sims.
It surprised me how much relief pitching mattered for a few teams - when I substituted - those teams went from .500+ to worse. Otherwise, many team overpaid for the relief innings as their starters put them in holes - i.e., mopup pitching is a premium here.
Slugging LHBs are platinum - next draft I am grabbing a few.
Players like Jose Reyes and Mike Young - great batting averages yet their RC/27 is anemic - it might be the HAL lineup.
When the season starts, I will set your rotations and lineups.
