[quote:27890d030f="kaviksdad"]I was wondering when THIS question would come up, and I figured it would be one of 3 guys who caught it. And I was right - it was one of the 3 guys I figured who caught.
Yes, I am aware of this and it was my intent to make it this way.
My philosophy when starting this league was to make sure everyone churned their rosters regularly, which is why the league requires at least 25% of every manager's team to be released each year. My goal was to increase competitive balance and keep everyone interested. Constant losing (except for me it seems) tends to discourage interest, increase frustration and can lead to loss of managers. I was hoping to keep everyone with the idea that in any year they could win it all with good roster management.
The prospect glitch that Smokey refers to is a secondary part of this concept. I have seen managers hoard prospects in other leagues and use them to supplement a very solid core of regular players. The results of this is often a free agent draft where a few managers have a small number of picks because they already are set at every position. I didn't want that here.
The way around the prospect issue that Smokey refers to is also in the rules. Prospects can be promoted at any time during each season, provided you have roster space to do so. You can't drop a regular player just to promote a prospect, but you can promote a prospect to fill a vacant position that results from an unbalanced trade. That's the key - if you have a bunch of prospects and are in fear of losing some the following spring make an unbalanced trade or two and clear roster space. Then promote as many prospects as necessary to your regular roster to fill the open slots.[/quote:27890d030f]
