[quote:1ba80e33de="AF Dickie"]Having a 100 loss season on your record is punishment enough. No draft pick is worth that embarrasment. :P[/quote:1ba80e33de]

That is quite true :)

But I can understand Charlie's point - it can get real discouraging come draft time and one guy has all the good picks (at least it can seem that way at times). And it can give the appearance of someone taking advantage of other (how do I put this, since I'm on of them?) less "SOM" intensive managers (how's that for diplomacy!). I think it's counter-productive for us to lightly dismiss Charlie's concerns. This is supposed to be fun, remember?

I said I could understand Charlie's point, and I can sympathize to a degree. On the other hand, this is the first complaint I've heard of this nature in any of the keeper leagues I'm part of (6 and counting). Granted, one manager monopolizing the first couple of rounds of a draft is discouraging. But both Bill and Dickie make good points too. If we thought we were being taken advantage of in dealing top picks we wouldn't be doing it. I've been on both sides, and I know how nervous I get when I don't have a 1st round pick in a free agent draft, as well as how cocky I feel when I have 2 or 3.

I say we try and work this out as pals - there's just way too much other negative crap going on everywhere right now to let this "escape" of ours become more like "work."

Schedule:

Friday the 13th Final drops are due (player and stadium)
Saturday the 14th Start draft (player and stadium)

I don't think there is a problem with doing both drafts at the same time, unless anyone things anythign differently,

Kaviksdad - Chicago (NL) 13/13
Detroit-Tigers - Philadelphia 14/14 (still deciding and might want to trade for a pitcher's park if anyone is interested)
Stoney - LA (AL) 4/7
Akindian - Colorado 11/15 STAYING even though my pitching stinks!

Bubba - Florida 6/6
Nythawk - Baltimore 11/17
Cummings2 - San Diego 2/5 STAYING
Ninersphan - Milwaukee 9/9 STAYING

AFD - Pittsburg 7/1
Cubit - Boston 2/5
Fowldawg - San Fran 3/3 (staying)
QkSilver - NY (NL) 8/8 (leaving - willing to trade the former Shea park if someone wants it, would only ask a minor pick upgrade, like, within the same round kind of minor)

[quote:acc0aac75c="Cummings2"]OK, I made an effort in expressing my idea for the league in an intelligent and resoectful manner without putting ultimatums, being petulant or insulting and in return I get called a communist, and placed on an ultimatum. Interesting.

You know what Bill, why don't you just stay pat. I'm out. out of for good of this Uskl 2 & 3.

C2[/quote:acc0aac75c]

C2, I hope the biggest joke was you saying you'd be out.

I certainly considered your suggestion as a meritorious one, though I happen to believe that draft choices are simply another matter for managers to consider and should be under their control. Your right to present the idea is one of our powers as managers. I certainly considered Niners' Bolshevik crack a joke and I'd have put a LOL after it were I replying.

As one of those who sent Qksilver a first rounder this time, I happen to think I did what I thought was right at the time. Upon reflection, I may have been idiotic, especially since it turned out that Roid-Tejada got a 2 at SS, but what can one say... Whose to say that Qk won't draft a clunker and Ubaldo doesn't win the Cy Young?

I am not completely convinced that we are all such good prognosticators that a league can be ruined over time, but this keeper format among friends really affords us the opportunity to make our own mistakes. I've never gone for those leagues that put trades up for votes or imposed rules that kept us from interacting in the virtual smoke-filled bars or luxury suites and coming up with our own deals. While 5 picks is pretty outrageous, we all need to remember who'll actually be making those picks-- Mr. 100 losses. :)

Cummings 2

Postby Ninersphan » Mon Mar 09, 2009 9:05 am

Guys,

I've had email discussions with Cummings2 and he has decided to step back from Strat for a bit. Our disagreement is not the only reason, it is not even the primary reason. His reasons are his own and I'd ask that you respect them and his privacy. To put you all somewhat at ease his health is fine.
He has asked Casey to step in a run his keeper teams for him, She may have already reached out and contcated some of you in this regard. If she hasn't, DT let me know and I'll pm you her email address so you can send her league spreadshets etc.
I owe you all an apology for my post yesterday. It certainly wasn't my intention to be the final straw that pushed C2 away from us for awhile, but rest assured he and I are ok.

This sounds fine with me. It will overlap with Unlimite Salary 3 drafting but if you boys are a little patient with me I am sure I can get it right.
