NLD XXII

Haven't quite finished the ratings, especially the comparisons to actuals, but what I've seen so far is that, as usual, the league is very balanced with only 2 teams fairly weak, one team very weak, and one that's "meh". The other 8 are all very, very close and should be in it to the end.

I'll try to get some more info up on Friday, but not sure.

I will say that the very weak team is over performing. Anyone want to guess if it's your team???? ;)

It can't be mine, if my team is [b:fc52577a25]OVER[/b:fc52577a25] performing with their pathetic record, I shudder to think what the ratings show.

My punchless offense is now minus both Arod and Napoli. I need some steroids fast.

OK, some high level numbers for now. The ratings go like this:

Wineman
Silvers
BigAlrc
Stoney.
Warrior
JeepDrv
Smokey.
cummng2
BigMahn

NinersP
ArrylTr

Hawkeye

BUT, there is only 167 points between WM and BigM so, essentially it's a 9 way tie! Not unusual for the NLD.

I was wrong about the one Meh team, I think I had a mistake in one of my platoons or, I just hadn't normalized for that team's park.

The reason for the blank line between Big M and NP is that there is a 128 point difference between those two teams, almost as much as the difference between 1 and 9!!!

AT is right there with NP, but Hawk is a distant 245 points behind AT. He *was* the over performing team before losing 7 in a row since I wrote that!

Silver and Big A are the Best teams on O, AT far and away the worse, but Warrior's O isn't all that grand.

OTOH, AT's P/F is number 1 with Warrior slightly behind! Worst pitching is Hawk by a good margin.

As discussed previously, Jeep and Stoney have the best Fielding by large margins while Big M and Hawk have pretty weak D with Silver not much better.

The ratings would say that the West will come down to Silver and WM while AT and NP struggle. Only Hawk can be counted out of the East (despite Big A's slow start) and the Central should be wide open, but since they are on the low end of the top 9 for the most part I wouldnt' expect the WC to come out of the Central. In fact, you would think that the second place team in the west is best positioned for that given their top two ratings plus two teams in their division that are, apparently, in the lower tier.

More analysis of Rating versus actual later. All I have time for for now.

Hey Ninersphan - I have not really been following baseball much this year - been focused on other things like the NBA/NHL playoffs ... when & why did Gary Sheffield become a Met? :o

Just prior to the start of the season. Detroit released him and the Mets picked him up after he cleared waivers. Detriot is still on the hook for most of his salary with the Mets only paying him the vetran minimum. So it was basically a low rish/potential high reward type move.

As to the why, they wanted a RH bat off the bench as their lineup is heavy on LH and switch hitters. they were hoping to play him a little in rf and lf swapping out Church and Murphy but with the injury to Delgado he will likly play more as the Manager and GM believe he's still a bat that opposing pitchers fear.

Minya also feels that Sheff brings an "attitude" that the Mets were lacking in the clubhouse someone with "an edge" (his words, not mine).

Sheff was encouraged to sign w/ the Mets by his uncle, former Met great Doc Gooden. he also said he felt NY has a shot at the championship and right now that's what he wants.

Time will tell on all counts.

Stoney has effectively run away with the Division (East). I know it's still relatively early, but it'll take a minor miracle to catch him.

Injuries started my downfall, but the ship hasn't righted itself yet. I need some momentum quickly.

Another thing. I've seen this happen to me 2-3 times lately, and it's something that has just started happening. Why in the world would Beltran be substitued for in this game. Obviously I 'm not stupid enough to have Beltran checked to be replaced defensively, and there's no reason whatsoever that the move would be an advantage for me offensively. Take a look:
